the Hand Watering coco thread

the trick is keeping the coco moist and as canna suggests never give them plain water, minimum 0.6ec otherwise unbalance can occur.

It depends on your container size, I have done 3ft plants in 5 gallons that needed to be watered as if they were in soil and I have done the same size plant in 1.5gallon on drip feeds that get watered 5 times a day. It depends on if the plant is rootbound as well.

I just got a bag of coco from VandeZwaan.. (House and Garden) .. gonna make some hempy buckets out of it. That's the best I can do to boost the thread..

Just wanted to drop back by and report a little on the VandeZwaan (House and Garden) coco. Man.. this is nice stuff.. very uniform in texture. One thing I noticed immediately about it.. it does not need rinsing.. (at least the bag I got didn't) I always check the runoff after rinsing a portion and compare it to the ppm of the water I do the flush with.. in this case, it changed very little. I assembled my hempy bucket and the flow of the water thru this stuff was very nice. I think I just found a keeper product.

The canna coco is the same way maynard .... very nice texture & no need to prerinse or precharge .

Your gonna love the coco hempys ! I do both DTW coco & hempys & while they're very comparable in yeild per 2 gallon bucket . i find the hempys veg quicker & give ya slightly better start than the dtw buckets .
check out the gorilla glue pics in my albums ... they are 2 gallon coco hempys . i auto feed mine , but its still a hempy .
good luck with them brother :)

soil to coco? can it be done

soil to coco? can it be done

I have a bunch of babies in happyfrog soil can I transplant in to coco or will that cause problems.I got some other plants that were in coco and I transplanted them in to soil. They are doing great. Not sure if I can transplant from soil to coco. I've read this thread start to finish and want to give coco a shot.

Coco is a growing medium with some specific needs. Yes, you can transplant soil into coco but that doesn't mean it can be done without addressing the changing environment for the root zone. As an inert, hydroponic, media you will need to feed your system. Compost tea, organic nutrients, salt-based nutrients... whatever you decide, it will need to be fed or amended to keep the plants thriving. I'd recommend sticking with organics and work to amend and supplement your program with microbes which do all the heavy lifting.
