How many internodes do you like to see on each branch before flipping to flower?

That just depends how big you want your plant to finish. You can grow a plant with 12/12 lighting from the time the seedling sprouts and end up with a small plant, or veg until it's 3-4 feet tall and end with a 6-8 foot tall bush. All depends on how big you want them to be.

Assume that a indica dominant plant will grow to about 1.5-2 times it's size when flipped (height AND width), and a sativa dominant plant will usually grow to 2-3 times its size when flipped.

I grow in 5gal pots. veg for a month. have an avg of 7 internodes per branch. i understand it depends. just trying to get an idea of what others are doing?

Like Spicy said, it depends on how big you want the plant to finish. The number of internodes has never been a deciding factor for me on when to flip. Because I grow small scale and height has always been my limiting factor, I have to either train a lot or plan on the stretch and flip when the plants grow to 1/4 - 1/2 the max light height.

I know it's not an exact answer but if you don't have any limitations on lighting, room size, or anything else, grow the plant as big as you want and get a shit ton of bud.

Yeah, I've never really counted internodes. I use 7-10 gallon pots and like my plants to finish about 2.5 to 3 feet tall and about 2 feet wide (compact bushes). So, I flower sativas when they are around 1 foot tall or so, and indicas when they are about 1.5-2 ft tall.

I sort of count nodes merely because I take the clones that will be my next crop from the girls in veg just prior flipping them in the flowering room. I like to be able to take 6 to 8 clones per plant.
