Your Meds May affect your cannabis high

Just a heads up your antidepressants can affect your cannabis high, not sure of all the effects, buddy of mine said when he takes his meds some pot that makes him paranoid doesn't.

Makes sense as ssri's prevent the uptake of serotonin etc...

Peace

SSRI stop the REUPTAKE of serotonin. It is still released but is not rue absorbed by the body allowing it to build up to "normal" levels.

I have read on another popular site that some people use some of these meds to end bad trips on other drugs like psychedelics.

Had a really bad experience mixing prozac and weed, in 1988. I had just started the prozac, and took a couple pipe hits, before playing some tennis.
I got super dizzy, tunnel vision, and had to sit down for awhile, as I thought I would black out.
For all you heavy drinkers out there, beware the SSRI. The last one I took nearly doubled my alcohol intake. I didn't feel it, but I am sure my organs were taking a beating.
I have always been on the fence with these psych meds, having taken at least 20 of them over the years.
For a short term fix, they really can be a lifesaver. Unless you have a bad reaction to one, and eat a gun.
Kinda like playing with fire, in my experience.
Withdrawal from them is real, for some people. I can promise you that. I went through a 6 month living nightmare, trying to quit Effexor XR.
Ironic, isn't it, that I could go to 5 doctors today, and be home with a RX for 5 different, incredibly potent psych meds by noon.
Not our favorite plant though, it must be evil!
Tread lightly!

I found they made me a smoke machine, I could smoke a quarter in one sitting and barely feel a thing. also gave me seizures when I tried to quite taking them, along with lots of other unpleasant side effects. I'd rather shave my balls with a carrot peeler then take those again.

Funny you mention this...i've been on psych meds for 10 years and smoking the last 7...Paxil Cr is my base med along with valium and a few others. I find that I don't need valium or the other meds as much when I smoke full indicas and indica dom hybrids. Sativa dom's I notice can (environment pending) usually make me racy, uncomfortable and I get the sweats. If I take a valium before hand maybe an hour or so the same plant will elevate the calming effects of the valium. SSH is the only exception to the rule, she calms me big time and very very euphoric. BOTTOM LINE was that I don't grow/smoke sativa's or hazes anymore and it has really changed my life. I didn't notice how bad they were effecting me until i stopped growing them. I think that when people start a thread saying "smoking makes me feel uncomfortable should i go with an indica or a CBD strain?" I laugh because if smoking causes you to feel bad then why search through hundreds of seeds, harvest after harvest until you find something that probably isn't suited to your needs. If you have a disease that requires cannabis I can understand the need for a calm indica or CBD plant, otherwise why waste your time.
Sorry i kinda got on a rant there

it's a no to smoke marijuana while you're under medication of antidepressant. it can really be dangerous, depending on the type of antidepressant taken. when used in concomitant, it may cause extreme restlessness, rapid heartbeat, hallucinations and chest pain

I smoked and took prozac for years, was a very effective combination for me

there are layers and layers of marijuana and drug interactions

for example really cerebral sativas are lost to those take opiates and benzopenes

conversely sativas on psychedelics have a catalyst effect

I use Essitalopram, Xanax and Lithium daily and I have for about 20 years. When I smoked as a teenager (non-medicated) I´d get these giggly, funny highs but not anymore, now it´s more of a "downer" but a pleasant one. My cannabis use is for chronic pain, it doesn´t really help my moods.

I TOLD HIM, UNTIL HE ELIMINATES SOMETHING HE IS TAKING FROM HIS IDIOT DR...HE IS JUST WASTING HIS MONEY...I THINK AT 40, THAT MANY PILLS IN ONE DAY ARE JUS INSANE....STUPID DR'S..DJ

Sometimes all those meds are ALL needed, weed doesn´t cure as much as it helps alleviate symptoms. Lot`s of people with depression are helped by cannabis but not mine, plenty of people have been able to leave ALL pain meds using RSO etc but it just helps me manage mine etc etc. Ecce homo.

Do yourself a favor if you can... get off the drugs.

Still can't believe there's been 70 years of research into chemicals that screw up your brain. I'm pretty sure that the right cannabinoid profiles can replace every single one of those drugs... without the crappy side effects.

Took elavil for 2 weeks once before I started going in circles. Only two weeks and I still got brain zaps when I quit taking them. Tried a couple pills of others, here and there over the decades, and never found one that didn't alter me in ways that weren't cool.

TCG: Clean and stupid aren´t the same thing. Some drugs are needed and can´t be replaced by cannabinoids. "Cannabis fanaticism" is scaring a lot of people.

Well it seems that Seroquel can really raise the tolerance level significantly. Its a funny drug, I am on a small script of it and it used to knock me out real early and the ol'lady was laughing at me. Now I could sleep in past noon if nobody woke me up, equally as entertaining to the ol'lady, but no help eliminating the honey do list ha ha.

Peace

I had Seroquel for awhile, dose 50-100mg at night, made me feel punchdrunk the next day. I was given it for pain but it disn´t help that either. Slept like a babe though.

Cannabis ignorance is actually killing people. Quite a more important subject.

Having tried many, MANY different strains I can tell you there are significant effects from different cannabinoid/turpene profiles.

The difference between researching cannabis related solutions vs. chemical solutions is you know there's no danger of doing damage to the brain that won't go away.

At least in the psyche world... chems are bad news and it's tragic that there hasn't been 70 years of research in working with cannabis and the mind. 70 years ago the majority of 'psyche' medicines on the market were cannabis in nature. Go figure.

Modern chemistry is killing the population. Draining their wallets too.

Keep it Clean! :D
