WASHINGTON, D.C. -- For marijuana advocates, the last 12 months have been a period of unprecedented success as Washington and Colorado became the first states to legalize recreational use of marijuana. And now for the first time, a clear majority of Americans (58%) say the drug should be legalized. This is in sharp contrast to the time Gallup first asked the question in 1969, when only 12% favored legalization.

It's happening! :woohoo: People know the Emperor's nekkid!

Interesting stats, I wouldn't have expected Texas to be in the plus column for legalization. A couple friends recently spent a few months in the Refugio jail and are paying a couple thou in fines. Had 3 zips.

I lived in Texas for a while other than Austin and a few other random parts you'll have a hell of time passing legalization there.

Texas is apart of the bible belt which is ironic that Christians in the bible belt are fundamentally against any sort of cannabis reform. I speculate that this is probably fallout from the the federal governments effort to demonize cannabis in the past and due to societal stereotypes of cannabis smokers... shame on anyone who allows themselves to reinforce those stereotypes

According to a poll conducted in Jan 2014 in Georgia, between 54% & 62% of people in Ga want decrim, legal or med programs in the state. Peachtree NORML has the poll results on their site.
