Seedlings at One Week (New & Paranoid?)

Hey y'all. Sorry to be the noob posting what has likely been posted a host of other times...but I am reading so much contradictory info and I need some straight answers!

A lot of advice I see to noobs is: relax, chill out, it's fine. So if that's the case, great. If not, please let me know what I could be doing better.

My grow tent is 36x36x72. I have an inline fan with carbon filter (picture) as well as a 600w MH (pictured).

These two seedlings came out roughly a week ago and have been growing quite slowly, I reckon. They're planted in 100% coco. They looked fine until a few days ago when I noticed a little brown on the tips of one, and a tiny bit on the edges of both. The cotyledons on both seem to have been curling down, and now the first set of leaves seem to be droopy.

I haven't watered them too much...at least I don't believe so. There are ample drainage holes in the bottoms of the cups, and I've been watering every two days. No nutes yet. There's a second set of leaves coming in...slowly...and they look fine.

I raised the lights up as I was concerned about heat stress. The temperature at the top of the tent shows around 75, but the temperature down near the plants registers between 85-90. I have a small fan blowing on the plants, and have for about 4 days.

So what do y'all think? Thanks.

hi drude, if that fan is on full speed it'll damage you're plants, they're very delicate at this stage, give em a small mount of nutrient next time you water, goodluck

Ok...good to know. I just moved the fan off the plants, blowing up toward the light. I also mixed up some 1/4 strength nutes for next time. Measured at 478ppm...is that too strong? My tapwater comes out around 200ppm.

Do not give them any nutrients. They are much to young to need anything. They don't even have a decent set of leaves yet!

Give them tap water when the pots are light. Use your head but don't overthink it.

Right now, they need you to get away and let them stretch out and get their bearings. They'll tell you when they need something.

Good luck

Just to update...I reasonably determined that the plants weren't being overwatered OR underwatered. The light was raised three feet above, and the temperature at the leaves was barely warm (on the back of my hand).

I pointed the fan directly above the plants, and started a 50% nute watering every 12 hours. They have reacted VERY positively. Perked right up, consistent growth on the second set of leaves...bigger every time I look, almost. Hopefully this will continue. Thanks for the help/suggestions.

Fans can really damage leaves, as you found out. As far as adding nutes to seedlings, it won't hurt them. Ron Smooth said not to add to young seedlings, which is correct in that they can survive for a short time without, but it will not hurt them.

Also, when in coco, which is how I grow now, you want to at a minimum "charge" with a calmag supplement. I add GH nutes at about 1.2 EC (starting water is .3). This includes 1 tsp/gal of GH calmag. I tend to do a 1:1:1 ratio of GH 3 part for this. Or about 1/2 tsp/gal of each plus the calmag. I also add GH Flora+ 1 ml/gal, Rapid start at 2.5 ml/gal and I throw in some beneficials (I use roots organism). Since you won't need to water for a while with babies, you want the nutes to be there when they need it with out over watering.
