Think you won't be getting a flu shot or other vaccines...
Just you wait...
Wait for the government to deny you your ObamaCare (using loosely in place of general health care) because you haven't had the proper series of shots - wait until they reject you for employment because your health records don't indicate full compliance with government health regulations...

i'm sure there are some vaccinations that are useful, but i don't think the FLU-shots fall into that category. how do you vaccinate for something if the virus changes every year? it's as questionable as that bird-/pig-flu scam from a few years ago.
also the practice of giving newborns a whole battery of shots at once seems dangerous.

I got to say Im pretty disgusted at the amount of misinformation going around in this thread. The amount of paranoid people against vaccinations and medicine, it would seem, is quite distressing. Clearly a lot of you people are scientifically illiterate, and are the reason for many recent outbreaks across the US and Australia, and dare I say it, are also probably the reason some or many children, or elderly or sick person lost their life. With all this anti vaccer propaganda and misinformation, vaccination rates dropped and herd immunity was lost. Surprise surprise....no herd immunity, and we get outbreaks....which will cost people their life. Some people can't be vaccinated because of age or health reasons, and we need to all get vaccinated not only to protect ourselves, but also those who are unable to get vaccinated. It's really your duty to your community. I find it extremely arrogant and self centred if you choose not to vaccinate yourself or your child.
I honestly have almost reached my limit with with thus site... I mean the amount of people here that are for one, scientifically illiterate, and two, believe in complete and utter BS is astoundingly, and at a greater proportion than in the wider community it wound seem. I can't keep coming here every day and seeing conspiracy bullshit prom paranoid people who have no idea about the way things work. Makes me sick.

Its really does suck about the people not getting vaccinated carrying the virus and passing it on to the populations with a compromised immune system... But then again there is natural selection as previously mentioned. The people who choose to get vaccinated will be well and the ones who go without will have a higher rate of mutation in their cells when they do contract viruses...
I believe its switzerland that has practically eliminated chronic disease with their national health care... And they have to ship their doctors out to eastern europe to study chronic disease. People die of old age in switzerland, not from heart attack, stroke, etc...

US researchers have discovered antiviral proteins in cells
that naturally fight off influenza infections, a finding that may lead
to better ways to make vaccines and protect people against the flu.
They said a family of genes act as cell sentries that guard cells from an invading influenza virus, the team reported on Thursday in the journal Cell.
"This prevents the virus from even getting into the cell," said Stephen Elledge of Harvard Medical School and a Howard Hughes Investigator at Brigham & Women's Hospital.
"It is out there fighting the flu all of the time," Elledge said in a telephone interview.
Elledge and colleagues used a new research technique called RNA interference in which they systematically turned off individual genes and then exposed cells to the flu virus.
Using this method, they discovered a small family of flu-fighting proteins called interferon-indicible transmembrane proteins that boost the body's natural resistance to viral infection.
"If you get rid of it (the protein), the virus can replicate 5 to 10 times faster. What that means is your cells have a mechanism that can block 80 to 90 percent of the virus that gets in," Elledge said.
They also showed that if they make the cell overproduce the protein, they become more resistant to the flu.
"If you crank it up, it really shuts down the flu," he said.
The team showed that a specific protein in the family - IFITM3 - protected against several viruses, including strains of influenza A now found in seasonal flu, the West Nile virus and dengue virus.
The proteins did not offer any protection against HIV or the hepatitis C virus, but lab tests suggested they may defend against other viruses, including yellow fever virus.
The team showed that if the virus evades this first-line protein defense and makes it inside the cell, this activates an alarm system called the interferon immune response that gets pumped out of cells and alerts the rest of the body to make more of the natural antiviral proteins.
The findings offer new insights into the body's natural defenses against influenza and other viruses, Elledge said.
"We really did not know how our bodies were stopping the flu."
They also may lead to better ways to protect people from influenza and other viral infections.
"By making this protein be expressed in poultry or pigs, we can make them resistant to the flu. That can help protect people by protecting animals from the flu," he said.
It also may lead to more reliable vaccine production by creating a more friendly environment for the virus to grow in chicken eggs, he said.
"If we take our gene away from the cells in which the virus is growing, it will grow much faster. You can actually produce vaccines much faster," he said.

I love you to death bobble but your taught by the same people that make the vaccines... Are vaccines helpful....? yes and no. IF they work then great... However they are full of heavy metals like mercury and aluminum and formaldehyde in some cases. The things that are in the vaccines that dont and SHOULD NOT be in there are the bad part of the vaccines, not the vaccines themselfs.
This subject is way to deep to start a arbitrary conversation on whos right or wrong it gets down to eugenics and alot more shit that im sure ill get flamed on for stating. Or maybe the aids virus that was created by the creation of the polio vaccine that they new had aids in it and made manditory for africans to have the shot spreading the disease even more( i know they dont believe in contraceptives). when you get vaccinated you can still carry the disease. You just cant get sick. so getting vaccinated does not stop u from spreading just getting. So by not getting vaccinated you dont put other people at risk any more then you would being vaccinated. Only person more at risk is yourself.

but u cant vaccinate against chronic disease, but you can have universal health care available for every aingle person that heavily focuses on preventative & routine care, which lessens the worst case scenario that we ser here so often.
you can put caps/stipulations on tort & litigation.
you can increase awareness for risky behaviors, possibly even influence behaviors... like being fit & active.
you can alter the diet & nutritional value of our food & water sources... and protect them from harmful adulterants.
you can limit industry & polution.
switz is better at all of that vs the us... aint got to do vaccines... and i still doubt they have no chronic disease.
but one thing for sure... our gov has zero cred, no reasonable cause to think they are acting for public welfare. anything they purport... i view with skepticism.
