Id love to do a 400w vert. Such an efficient use of the light. Im gonna keep my eye on this one. Keep up the good work!

5th, Thanks for your advice. The sort of training that you talk about and that marlo excels at is something I will definitely try for next the run. But for now I am gonna stick to what I am good at which is single cola clones. The clones are really starting to fill the spaces now and I am not seeing much space to train them in..

Midgar - Thanks! And yeah, This is my first run using the vertical style grow and definitly won't be my last. I am really impressed at how things are going even though this is my first try at it.

I will update you all with pics and things tomorrow. The girls are starting to put out heaps of pistols now, the stretch in the Sour Kush and Critical 47 is great! Although I think it is all down to positioning and the size of the pots for some of them because I have some sour kush clones which are the shortest stoutest girls of the lot and they are the ones in the smaller 1.5 liter containers. And the sour kush clones that are in the 3 liter containers are keeping up with the Critical 47 in height.

The Critical 47 are really showing all these other girls up. They are stackin on a lot of bud really early into flowering and look as though they are 2 weeks ahead of the Power Kush and Sour kush strains when it comes to pistol out put. I am really stoked that I gave them all the extra veg time rather than just throw them straight into 12/12.

Stick around folks, Update with pics coming in the next day.:thank you:

Here is a quick comparison for you all to see the difference 1.5 liters of soil makes. The plant on the left is in a 3 liter container, plant on the right is in a 1.5 liter container.

Here is the girl in the 1.5 Liter container..

And here is the girl in the 3 liter container..

wow, nice comparison and considerable difference! thx for sharing.

you just inspired me maybe try many 1L pots crammed in my micro space, each producing just one short cola. that small of a container should help keep them all short and compact while their high number could result in good yield still?

anyways, nice ladies you got :good: keep it green! :smoke:

btw my friend, are you going to let the plants grow through the tube screen at any point? as for now they freely grow their natural way, right? just wondering if you really need that screen in this case?

K

kiwi_growa

Hi there NKOTS:) How're ya pal.

No I won't be letting the girls grow through the screen, it is simply there as a precaution just in case some of the fan leaves decide the get close the the bulb. The girls grow so fast that I would feel uneasy leaving them for the day around a bare bulb while I am at work. I know it isn't really "needed" but I worry less when I am at work knowing that there is something there to stop the girls getting any chance of being burnt on the bulb. They're around 3-4 inches away from the bulb, the only thing that stops them from burning at this distance is that massive fan constantly blowing on them. But yes NKOTS you are correct, they are growing freely their natural way. I haven't trained any of them except the Pineapple Express girl.

I am waiting for my carbon filter to arrive, it is startin to get to that point in the time when it's needed. These girls fuckin reek! And the smell is only gonna get stronger.

they all look really great :yay:

what can you say about temps in the box, vert vs. horizontal?
i was adviced to hang a bare vert bulb in my rabbit warren back when it was in operation because i experienced high temps in that cab. now looking at plant to bulb distance in your setup i tend to believe it could be a solution. either this or horizontal cooltube.

happy growing, buddy, you rock :headbange

K

kiwi_growa

Heeey NKOTS, :thank you:

Temps aren't really anywhere near as much of an issue as they were on the last run when I had the bulb horizontal. I can't really put it down to vertical growing though as I have a completly different setup and the fan I use is huge. Although as you have said, I am able to get the plants much closer to the bulb without burning so I guess that yeah temps are easier to deal with in vertical growing. I have no kind of cool tube or anything to deal with temps directly around the bulb. I just have a fan blowing in that general direction constantly aswell as a 150mm Centrifugal fan expelling all the air from the top of the "cab".

Here's some pics from today. Installed the Centrifugal the other day, Now I am just waiting on the carbon filter to arrive. going to seal up around the edges of the top of the cab too as you can see that there is a fair bit of light leaking out which mean some will be leaking in during the night and the last thing I need is hermies.

Week 3 Pics.

Hey there KG bro, having the fan sit on ply like that will cause vibrations, and make a shitload of noise. If I was you I would hang it using bungy cords or something that reduces the vibrations. Grows looking epic man. Your girls mothers are around a month ahead of their daughters there. Impressions so far...
The CAK47 is super crystaly. Smells incredible, and looks like she will yield very well.
The Sour Kush is a pain in the arse. I am starting to believe this is to be expected with RP gear. She shot straight up when switched, and all the nodes met up beautifully by week three. I got excited as shit, I mean some of these cola's looked 45 cm's long, and so closely packed that I thought for sure that they would be dense and fat as. But then she kind of shot out lots of marble sized buds, and then they just stayed that size. They're packed with crystal granted and look like they will be some INCREDIBLE smoke, but as far as yield goes, she's a big dissapointment.
Wish I had a camera and I'd send you some pics.
Anyway man, shit's looking great, good work!

Hey OKD, Thanks for dropping by my thread bro and cheers for your comment.

KK, Thanks for the advice. The noise doesn't really bother me that much, It does make a lot of noise but the difference isn't huge when I hang it so I don't bother. I am starting to see what you mean about the CAK47, she is really packing on the buds a lot more so than the other strains. The Power Kush is keepin up with the CAK47 but I can't really say the same for the Sour Kush and the Pineapple Express..

It's funny what RP have to say in there opening sentence about the Sour Kush - Headband Kush has a great yield, and the high is completely medical and not too over-powering....
I am not seeing a great yield coming from any of my Sour Kush clones but they do smell and look really good when it comes to trichome coverage. I too saw my Sour Kush clones shoot straight up when I made the switch, I am not looking forward to lots of marble sized buds though I was hoping for nice 45cm cola's as you were....:-/ At least the smoke is going to incredible, Stoked that I have that to look forward to!!

If you get a chance to get a hold of your camera you should send me some pics, I would be really interested to see what my ladies will turn out like!!

Hey there KG bro,

Yeah, I got over excited when I first saw bud formation on the SK, and was at that critical stage of deciding what would be my next run clones, so I kept 8 SK's, Bugger!
So I have just switched those a week ago, they are huge already, so after stretch, I would be surprised at anything less than 5 feet. The smoke looks awesome though, so fingers crossed it makes up for the shit yield.

Had the Mrs decide she's desperate to go to Rythm and Vines this year, so have to make sure I pull prior to that, looking at my calender, the girls will come down some time around the 17th, so will be cutting it close, but should be right.

Update.

Here is 1 of the Power Kush clones in a 1.5 liter Bottle with the top cut off. She is really starting to fatten up, it is week 4 today. I think this girl will yield me around half an ounce, I will be stoked if they all do around half an ounce. That will be almost a pound in total. Btw I have taken the 400watt MH out as recommended by some and have raised the HPS up so that the tops are get more light coverage.

I will post up some pics of the Critical 47, Sour Kush and Pineapple express in a sec just waitin for the camera to charge.

K

kiwi_growa

Here is the Critical 47, she has awesome structure and is putting on a lot of weight. She is in a 3 liter juice bottle with top cut off.

Here is the Sour Kush, as noted above by KK her structure isn't as good as the Critical 47 is but incredible smoke with lots of marble sized buds. The buds look and smell delicious on the Sour Kush but yeah the yield is nothing to brag about. Also I should add that the Sour Kush is in only 1.5 liter bottle with top cut off.

hi kiwi

they are all looking stunning :dance013: the C47 is a stately one!

i can be mistaken but i believe that you can rotate your pics if you go to your gallery, click on a photo and edit it . there should be an option 'rotate clockwise' and that is what you want! :good:

stay relaxed :smoke:

Can you please figure out how to load the pictures the right way?

It's somewhat, no it's a lot of annoying like this

There ya go sunshine, Hope I haven't annoyed you too much Blue:laughing:

NKOTS - Thanks for the kind comments mate, the CA47 is going to be stunning in 3-4 weeks time. Appreciate the tip on how to rotate the pics, I have done it now so no more neck pains for you guys lol! I will try make sure they are all rotated prior to uploading from now on.

Small update - I have cut off all nutrients as of today. I know it seems a little early into flower to do this( we are at week 4 yesterday). But I really like a good flush on my girls. As you can see the CA47 and Sour Kush are starting to yellow in the bottom leaves which tells me they are on their way to maturing, so I don't really see much point continuing to feed if they have started feeding from the lower leaves. Let me know if any of you object to this and I will take your points into consideration. A lot of people feed right up til week 6 sometimes even week 7, I disagree with this as I think it takes more than 1 week for the plant to rid itself of the nutrient build up.

The smell is becoming immensely strong, I believe this is mostly the Sour Kush girls fault. They stink to high heaven and are just coated in Trichomes. Their buds resemble the Pineapple express girl on my last run except sour Kush stretches far more than P.E ever did. I will have another update for you all next week(week 5 flower).

Til then.:smoke out:

well done with the pics :)

true, you stop feeding very early. when i did soil it was actually the moment when i was STARTING to feed, lol. really!
anyway if you feel better this way then why not? my only concern is the yellowing of the bottom leaves: maybe it is not a sign of maturing but insufficient food? or is it ruled out because you did fertilize heavily?

hope you rotate the family pictures too (in the earlier posts up here) :good:
