Does Your Family Know About/Support What You Do?

Dad wasn't crazy about it until the worst of my problems were the 4 DWI's I got in short order. We debated the issues of toking/drinking and he finally acknowledged (with his silence) that there was no real harm in smoking weed. He had no idea that the 'usual me' was nearly always stoned, he had to admit that my everyday behavior was fine and that me being high was undetectable.......

It's amazing how many timely topics show up here, that hit close to home for me.
We have two teens, that know we use cannabis for medical reasons. Why the hell do my wife and I tippy-toe around, and use mouthwash after we smoke, so the kids don't "Know"??
I guess we are still victims of our indoctrination, growing up. I sit on the couch, and down a 6'er of beer every night, without hiding it. If the kids chose to do that, it could kill them. If they chose to smoke a bowl, they'd raid the fridge. At the very worst (Maybe a strong edible), they'd puke, and sleep for a few hours, and not repeat the mistake.
We are in a fucked up situation with their sperm donor dead beat birth father, that has brought us untold drama, including civil court.
Still I grow. Literally right under their noses. Kids: "Why is the garage locked all the time?" Me: "I have a lot of toxic chemicals out there for painting. Plus it's a security measure. Lots of burglaries happen from open garages."
I feel like a hypocrite, but it's the nature of the beast, for a couple more years.
I feel like shit, because their Mom works, and I appear to them, to sit around the house all day. I can't tell them I am a Plant Manager, just yet!
My wife and I were just discussing whether or not to tell our daughter, when she turns 18. (And free from the psycho ex's parenting plan bullshit) She is an unusual girl, in that she wouldn't say shit, if she had a mouthful.
Then again, that puts her in a position where she actually KNOWS what's going on, instead of suspecting it.
There are so many reasons, pro and con. I'd love to share the science of it all with her, and teach her all I know about the hands-on, MacGyver engineering that goes into growing, and keeping it on the DL.
I also cherish her safety, and am wary of flapping teen lips.
The worst of all nightmares would be one of the kids talking, our home being robbed, and one of them getting hurt, in the process.
There are days I feel as if I am standing on a razor blade, shuffling my feet.
Regards.

Glad this topic was brought up as I see many of you deal with the same situations as I do.

Parents aren't totally against smoking but don't like it because of the legal consequences. Growing is certainly on another level but they only suspect for now.

I do have other family that knows and is non judgmental and supportive. I'm very grateful for them since at times I feel a bit guilty for what I do even thought I shouldn't.

That sucks about your siblings Retro
I guess I should be happy with my stoner siblings always asking me for smoke. (they are in there 20's)
I am a 40 year old cancer patient so who is gonna tell me anything
My mom complains to me from time to time
But my teenage kids is a tougher situation to deal with. I want to teach my 18 year old son everything I know but not sure if its a good idea.

Yup my family knows, well most of them...and the ones who don't find out when they see me walk off to have a toke.

I'm 37, have a kid, I'm legal, my wife is supportive, my In-laws are supportive, and my parents tolerate it..They call it my wacky tobaccy..lol

As my buddy says....you need to "own it"..don't be ashamed of taking your meds.

everyone that knows me knows that i toke. friends and family know i grow my own outdoor bud. i tell all of 'em that i believe in cannabis and i stand up for what i believe in. not one problem from any of 'em. none of 'em admit to smoking but many allude to the idea that they wish they could smke/admit to smoking in this fubar culture we endure.they all saw what the legal demon alcohol did to me.

frosty wibes and big rips! :)

my dad helped me build a 4x8 bed a couple of months ago, mom loves herb and hash, wife helps with a limited amount of grow chores and some trimming. kids are very young, I'm afraid I will have to hide the fact that daddy's grows pay for everything..... until the laws are changed around our parts.
