I had a thought the other day that kind of illustrated how crazy this thing we call humanity can be sometimes and wanted to share it. So I thought it might be a good idea to make a thread were we can show or talk about examples of how sometimes mankind behaves in mind bafflingly, stupid, ways. I would suggest avoiding obvious in the news examples like politics or religion though given the TOU and all. Besides there's enough other example that we don't even need to cover the blatant ones like politics and religion 
They can be observations on your own or something you learned about.
The one I'll start with is an observational one and I want to start here as it's near and dear to all our hearts. Marijuana. Not the plant itself of course but rather society's reaction to it. Now I don't mean the laws against it as that's politics and by default therefore stupid. What I'm talking about is back into the 60's, 70's and somewhat the 80's. In spite of the laws against it most people were okay with it and not counting police or military/government types the worst attitude was "Oh look at those crazy long haired Hippies with their funny cigarettes" somewhere in the 80's or 90's and from then on until now the image of a marijuana user has sturdily become more of someone as looked down upon as a crack or Meth addict. Even though nowadays more of the places of power where laws could be changed are filled with people who have first hand experience and knows that image to be false. Also that legitimate positive medical benefits are being found in marijuana.
Ironically while we have marijuana users seen as these terrible criminal types befitting hardcore drug dealers and manufacturers one of the most popular series out there features a main character who is a hardcore Meth Dealer/Manufacturer as the star. No wonder our kids turn to prescription drugs to get high with those kind of mixed messages.
