my thoughts exactly

I believe the word is "old school", not wierd. Wierd is the kids these days wearing super tight pants and sagging them. As if both of those things arent horrible enough.

Just put the youngest to bed. Gonna go catch a puff. Ill be back to bug you all with questions later:biggrin:

Ok. I feel pretty good. Ive made my decision. Im gonna go with the 5' x 10' for bloom, and a 5 x 5 for veg(so i can fit my cloner in there). I REALLY wanted to do vert. I had an awesome idea using milk crates, wooded dowels, and netting to make the perfect, k.i.s.s., vert scrog, (octagonal) donuts. I measured it out and i could have fit eight milk crates around the bulb, while keeping a perfect 36" diameter circle. It would have looked cool as shit. Anyways, I have pretty much figured out the logistics of what im gonna do. Im gonna try and keep the electrical simple. Im just gonna run a extension cord from the basement to my room. So i went to get an extension cord today, but I didnt realize there were so many different kinds. Ive always just used the orange ones. But for this i thought i better find out first. Dan- these are the kinds of electrical cords they had:

UTILITECH 100 ft. 14 gauge/3 yellow-$65

UTILITECH 50 ft. 12/3 yellow-$70

100 ft. 16/3 orange - $17

100 ft. 16/3 green 'Lawn and Garden' - $19

Which one do i need? and please dont say two 50 ft. 12 gaugers;)

I just wanna be as safe as possible if im gonna go ghetto tech.

Also, i grabbed most of the stuff I need to set up my "winter" window. It wasn't expensive at all(lowes). I was very happy:thank you:

1- 2' x 4' piece of plywood= $10
2- 6" 'take off" air tight start collars =$12(total)
2- 6" inline duct fans= $59(total)

1- winter time A/C unit = priceless

I guess i need to finally grab a 6" circular drill bit. But i need one anyways.

sadly im sure that "water" of pappy's still falls within safe drinking guidelines, and is probably because of line flushing or seasonal changes they make to the water supply to adjust the pH so it doesnt corrode the pipes

I love the quotes on "water". So true, it looks more like pee. I think your probably right about it being legally "safe" though. At least I hope your right.
But I do know that its not just routine, yearly stuff. The water authority has been out in my neighborhood a lot the past 3 months. Thats when this started. And the one time the water authority worker was out front of my house, draining the fire hydrants. I talked to him for a little bit, and he admitted that the water authority doesnt know what the hell is going on. He said for the time being, they are fushing the system regularly, and they recommend you let your water run for 15-20 minutes before use. Like im gonna use that. At least not for cooking/drinking. (Look what it did to my plants!) Showering/bathing theres not much options. Anyways I hope they fix it soon. Even if i get a 20-stage water filter, if they dont fix this, I'm gonna be replacing filters left and right. And i cant afford to buy 20 gallons of water a week. Thats $80 a month to just water my plants.

No pappy , no boosters in the window vents . but my room is pretty sealed & I have two exhaust systems going to pull the " passive " air in from outside ..... i'm hoping !!! i may have to add a 6" fan to one of the vents if i can't get enough draw ..... i should know pretty soon .

grab another RO system like you have & don't use the RO membrane ..... save it for when your original RO filter goes . & use the new filters as a sediment filter before the RO unit .

3rd .... yer really pissin me off ya know !!!! the harvests ya get ... the room ya have .... next thing your gonna show us is your wife is a super hot bikini model or something !!!!

Thanx Sir Galadriftahadsmokinjoe

Doc ... yeah thats a sweet cross !!!! looks heavenly

Uncs goin fossil hunting huh ??? just make sure she has her support hose on ..... all that saggin skin can get in the way on the way down

mornin ya motley mob

So you think a total of 5 stages should be good? I was thinking somewhere in the 4-6 range myself also.

O yeah, unc, Until my new r/o filters get here, im gonna still be using bottled. When you were using store bought water, did you buy those $1 a gallon distilled bottles from the grocery store? Or did you get those 5 gallon big bottles from somewhere like Lowes? or is the price about the same, and it doesn't matter?

Pappy give me a list of the lights , Fans & anything else electrical your going to use in the room . its sounds to me like your going to overload even a 20 amp circiut (12 guage cord) & your probably going to need more than 1 circuit . which is why we said to run a 30 amp dryer plug up to your room . so it can handle everything you want to use .

Dan- your bouncing back very nicely:tiphat: Your plants look great now. That Mendo madness looks very good too.

1- 1000 watt hps
1- 600 watt hps
1-400 watt mh
2- 6" little inline booster duct fans
2- 6" big inline fans.
3 or 4 oscillating fans

I think thats it...

And i was planning on using a bedroom circuit(1000 watt), a bathroom circuit(600), and now adding the extension cord from the basement circuit(the 400 watt and the fans).

Right now I run:

1-1000 watt
1-400 watt
330 watts of cfl and t5
1-6" Inline fan
4-oscilating fans
1-humidifier
1-EZ cloner

All run split between just the bedroom circuit, and the upstairs bathroom circuit.

So id only be adding:
1-600
1- 6" big inline fan
2-6" little inline duct fans

Ill take a pic of my box when i get a chance. I looked at it last night. The last time it was checked/serviced by an electrician was 1974. great.

pappy chances are those receps are all on 1 breaker. Probably a 15 amp. And you max that out already.

Bathroom outlets are usually seperate GFI recep's G .... which is probably why hes getting away with being able to use it like that .

yeah Pappy , run a 12/3 cord up from the basement .... hopefully it'll be a 20 amp circuit you plug into & run all your new equipment off that . they are all digital ballasts right ???
is the length of the cord you need longer than 50' ? if it is .... go with a 10/3 cord . any run over 50' you have to step up the wire size .

Well im really glad i have you guys to help me figure this out. Id be lost other wise. Thats actually why i never upgraded before. Im too incompetent. And to all the usually bike enthusiasts, im sorry for all the thread hijacking. Bare with me, the room planning is almost done.

So if i cant run another 600. I guess i can still do my new plan. Itll just be a 1000 and 400 in bloom. And 330 of cfl in veg. (instead of 1000 and 600 in bloom, and 400 in veg.) I know it can handle that at least. Im running that now.

And yea dan, all digital ballast.

here it is. I couldnt get a pic of it all at once.

its weird, it doesnt have my downstairs bathroom listed.

And thats stupid that all 3 bedrooms are on one. Isn't it??

unc- believe me, i would love to do that, but im scared they will either narc me out, or get me robbed. DTA- Dont Trust Anyone. I live by it. Cause anytime ive made exceptions, people usually make me regret it. The money is not why i wanna do it myself.
How do you plan on finding/choosing an electrician?
If i can find someone i do trust, im gonna go that route as well.

I didnt write it, but it says

1-main
2-main
3-stove
4-main
5-open
6-open
7-main
8-main
9- ______ is blank, so i would assume open
10-furnace
11-hall/upstairs bathroom
12-living room/garage
13-garbage disposal
14-washer dryer/refridgertor
15-(3 upstairs) bedrooms
16-dishwasher

so it looks like 3 open spots. i dont know what all those "main"s mean either.

How do i know what size breakers they are G? does it say it on the box somewhere, or do you gotta know what to look for?
Im not just a layman, im a lame-man.

Again fellas, this is super appreciated, its very important to me that im able to do this. And we're almost there! So then the regular scnanagians can resume!
Im starting to fall asleep though, have a good one everybody!:tiphat:

i wll go with a local company that has been around for a long time and has a good rep,and there wont be anything n that room aside from woodshop stuff, whats there to even wonder about in my case, they wont ever have to come into the house, separate building in my case...
pappy mostly all a contractor cares about is can you pay, you're talking about a 15 minute job in your case...tell them its for an insane home theater set up or something, they really dont care...
