not to be contrary but .........

frank herbert's son should have left Dune the fuck alone! ....... that does not mean i'm not interested in seeing more of what frank wrote:tiphat:

Definitely, the Stuff he has written sucks in comparison to his dads work, even if it is based on notes and story outlines left by FH.
Having said that, it was interesting to read "Spice Planet" the original story which became Dune.

I went to the library yesterday, and took every single Douglas Adams they had.
I also got the latest crime novel by Howard Marks. Yes that Howard marks, he writes crime novels now.

I was checking out Amazon for something to read on my tablet earlier this summer.
I ran across one of the best stoner books to me so far that is some funny azz sh$t.
Now it has a member of our community name in the book and I tried to pm, that member about the book but he must have thought I was and I guess i am a "fan boy".*

The book is " AlienChem" by Erasto Banks*

Book about Pablo Escobar mostly based his brother sayings..gives a whole different angle about Escobar and the Medellin cartel.

pretty crazy book, it's actually a couple stories in one book, with 2-3 short ones and one big one. They are not all connected per say.. but they still hold the same characters. It's a bit of an unusual book. I would recommend it though... I didn't fully comprehend the way it was put out at first but eventually I was very grateful for having read it.

Began reading Ice by Anna Kavan

0720612683-02-lzzzzzzz.jpg

"Kavan's 1967 hallucinogenic end-of-the-world novel follows two men's search for a girl as waves of ice threaten to destroy the planet. Acclaimed by Brian Aldiss on its publication in 1967 as the best science fiction book of the year, this extraordinary and innovative novel has subsequently been recognized as a major work of literature in its own right." [quote from Amazon]

It's quite an unusual book for open-minded readers, very surreal, but writing style is superb.

RETRIBUTION
The Battle for Japan, 1944-45.
By Max Hastings.

I've already read this 3 times; he is a great writer. A few inaccuracies have been found, but otherwise a great read.

Deadeye Dick - Kurt Vonnegut and Andromeda Strain - Michael Crichton

Was also cool to score both of these in first editions cheaply @ the local used bookshop.

Re-reading an old favorite, White Gold Wielder. Stephen R donaldson. Epic series in my humble estimation. I couldn't put these books down when I was a teen. felt sad when I finished last one of the series...
