Morning gents :coffee:

3rd .... i hope ya enjoyed the little vacation !!! i could use one right about now!

i hear [-the place where pappy lives-] is beatiful this time of year. Come on by and put your room design and assembling skillz to use!;)

looks like i'm going to need a dehuey for awhile ..... maybe all the time . RH with lights off is 77.9 ..... not good !!!

My RH usually gets to 80% every night. And in the day can be as low as 30%. But everyday i reset my max/min's and its usually 45/80. And ive never had any mold. Then again, the strains you grow might be denser nugged. Maybe ive just been lucky. That was one of the downsides of my closet set up, the daily temp an RH differentials were extreme.

Speaking of my closet. Its last cycle is almost done:woohoo:. So i will be starting my, "help me" thread prolly today or tommorow. I have it narrowed down to 2 specific plans. One involes a 10' × 5' flowering tent and a 5' x 5' veg tent, and one is a vert donut type set up with my 1k and 600 on two seprate donuts, and a 5' × 5' veg tent in the corner.

I figure if I have the extra space in the room, and i can properly vent it, why not use all the space, and maximize my electrical efficiency. The only thing is, to do the vert, i would definitely need to install a window A/C unit.
Can anyone please tell me how/if its possible to light proof/odor proof a window A/C unit?
Im thinking light proofing it wouldnt be that hard, but im worried odor proofing will. Dont AC units pull some air from the room back outside?
Please help if you can.:tiphat:

Anyways, im pretty excited none the less.

yes,it possible, but unless you are going for a sealed system you're better off buying a proper carbon filter...theres whole threads on the topic in the grow room designs section i think, there may even be a sticky...i think its a bad option for you since i assume you have limited amps to deal with and a window banger thats actually going to do something is going to draw like 9-12 amps...

pappy,an a/c unit is only going to work in a sealed system, they mostly work by recirculating the air already inside the room so if you are constantly ventilating the room all that air you paid so much to cool just goes away so the a/c has to constantly run, much better to have a good ventilation system unless you want to run co2..

LOL @ pappy :)

I've used a window banger for years & could never smell anything outside the unit . but i don't want to say it can't happen..... i just never experianced it . i think cuz they draw air in & don't exhaust air from the room out .... the only exhaust the heat from the condenser outside . the inside of the unit is sealed to keep the heat from the condensor seperated from the cold air of the compressor .... so i think your good with a window unit ..... but i wouldn't be running one in the winter !!! that would look suspicious !!! so i guess your vert idea is out the window so to speak

i've done pretty well with horizontal & have no desire to go vert . who needs bulb burns ???? i don't !!!

I've always used the AC in the main room the tents are in to keep the main room cooled off in the summer . the main room acts as a lung room & your tents draw air from that . same with heat during the winter ... i heat the main room & draw air from it for the tents .keep the main room at 72 degrees & your tents with proper ventilation should never go over 75 .

I've found light proofing window AC's to be all but impossible. They all seem to use white Styrofoam in them. Even spray painting them black I still have light get thru.

Some will have a choice of venting or closed but I imagine even closed a little odor may make it outside.

Afternoon all! Vacation was great even if cloudy the whole time.

4 plants about done sweating. Here is the heaviest lady.

That 423 is after tareing the bag weight.

I'll let you guys do the math.

Still have some stem to cut out but they are pretty crispy dry.

picture.php

They sit:
423
377
338
316

Will finish de-steming tonight and post a total. I expect to lose maybe a qp of stem weight at most. If it's 110 grams or less I will have hit the three mark under a 600 lol.

For the sake of complete transparency, one of the lights next to this one was turned up to 1000 for a few weeks but the one directly overhead was never bumped past 600.

Damn 3rd !!!! now thats what i call killing it !!! 3lbs from 4 plants per 600 watt light WTF ????
your using the boost correct ? i think i'm gonna start on this round .... i've seen enough differences to say its worth the extra coin .

helluva job brutha !!! :good:

thats my plan once i get back on track .... is 4 plants per light .... but i still only have 3 foot of height to deal with .... i can't get 5' monsters like your doing . one day !!! :)

I bought a 50 pint dehuey have not needed to use it yet. Still brand new never used lol.. I did not go through your whole list of equipment did you squeeze a AC in there?? if not that's the only thing I can think of that I would install. An AC box mounted on the outside of your grow room would be nice. I lov my AC unit if not for that I would have lost a few plants to heat damage even with great ventilation. If its hot your still venting hot air in and out of your room. I use 1 intake 8" 1 exhaust 8" into the BR. I can lower the temp in the flower room to 75 on a 100f day... You did a fantastic job dan no matter what....

Yeah dans, I'm not ready to call it 3 yet but it will be north of 2.5 for sure. I'm certainly hoping and crossing fingers and toes. I'm sure there is some larf in those bags as well but I count what I get rid of not just the AAA tops.

My LOK scrog is ready to come down and I'll be happy if it hits 2. All depends on strain and veg I guess, although one of this last group is a LOK and going over 10oz so who knows?

Hey outcast, did you see that rooted glue leaf?

I did. Take it easy on the watering. it won't need much until some stems and nodes appear. what happened to that other one with some roots showing ?? hope they grow for ya Im sure you can get more if those don't make it.

Got a ask what the vinegar is for??

All the others are dead. I'm pretty sure that leaf didn't go through the trouble of rooting to just sit there and die. Should see some growth before too long.

Bottle was just for scale, it was handy. Those aren't gallon ziplocs, they are bigger.

Nahhh Man no AC yet . its cold enough here now to get away without it . lights run at night when its in the 50's & getting colder every day . once summer hits I have the 12K portable . if i'm still here . this set up won't really work come summer cuz i have no way to cool the veg area .... its kinda stuck between the 2 rooms that have AC & i doubt a hose pulling from an AC room will be enough to cool it properly .

Ideally, i would really rather try and do the vert way. If i can figure out how, I am planning on running a 8"Scrubber------>8" Inline/Exhaust fan-----> into my attic

And your 100% right. i am working with very limited Amps. So it would be best if I could do this with out window unit. My concern is the heat. Your the one always saying just how important ventilation is, and how its most room's greatest weakness. So i thought i had too. The problem is, the central air vent in the floor of my grow room, can't be individually set. It runs at the same temp as every other vent in the house. I cant even do it separately for up stairs and down. And what the thermostat is set to, is completely dependant on my wife/kids. Obviously i cant make them sit in AC in the winter.

pappy,an a/c unit is only going to work in a sealed system, they mostly work by recirculating the air already inside the room so if you are constantly ventilating the room all that air you paid so much to cool just goes away so the a/c has to constantly run, much better to have a good ventilation system unless you want to run co2..

Its not gonna be a sealed system. I just was asking about light proofing/odor proofing the AC, because... well if im gonna have one, i would think i would need to do that. What dan said about the odor made me feel good. But then again, im getting ahead of myself. You made a good point, i dont have the amps to spare for that really.

HELP!!!! Im totally clueless when it comes to this grow room set up. My closet i set up completely on my own, and it took months of trial and error before it was close to optimal. Now that i have the extreme blessing of IC, im hoping i can get it right the first time. And i would love to do that vert donut thing if i can. I dont wanna sound greedy, but as you guys know, up to this point i havent had enough excess to get rid of. So its been all personal for me and the wife, and i still usually get close to running out b4 the next harvest. And i will be adding an extra 600 to bloom, but i figure i have the space in the room, I might as well us it all. There's always more room in Pappy's mason jar!!!

i've done pretty well with horizontal & have no desire to go vert . who needs bulb burns ???? i don't !!!

Well i hope i can get it worked out. Ive gotten kind of excited at the prospect of being able to yield decently. Its a feeling i'm unfamiliar with unfortunately.

Here's the pic that kindof inspired me. Its from a member called kiwi_grower. Its just one of his grows. Its a micro under a 400 watt. He hasn't built the stadium yet for it. But you get the point

picture.php

and i wouldnt be doing that exact same circular screen around the bulb. But something kinda similar. Ill get into that in my thread though. And ill have fans blowing straight up at the light, and a wall mount oscillating fan. And like i said, an 8" exhaust right between the 2 donuts, but up on the ceiling, across the room from the intake. My intakes will be the central air floor vent (except it'll be shut in the winter, because then the heat will be on) and the window. I just gotta figure that part out.

Here what the room looks like. Ill take some measurements later. I think its 10' x 15' x 8.5' or so. Obviously itll be cleared out, floor covered. But if i do vert, i would have to worry about refelxtix or poly white on the walls huh?

:tumbleweed::toohot: just getting back from unc's big (well more small to medium) desert adventure...couldnt find the road i was looking for...the first possible camp site i scouted out was a bust...the access road was just waaaaaaay too steep, mid to high 20's for a grade for sure...i was barely granny-ing my ass up it without a trailer,i just cant see pulling a load up it...it was fun as shit on the way back down, but the uphill bits were pure drudgery today...knees were achy...climbing a loose bumpy road didnt really help...gonna ride some road miles tomorrow and see if i cant stretch them back out...plus i turned over the crazy 8's today..888 miles...should be over 900 by tomorrow and crack 1000 by next week:dance013:

Oh yeah dans, I do use Boost but not every watering so far. Just costs so damn much. I would like to start using it every watering though and with me setting a 28 gallon rez every week it would be hard to use it sparingly unless I just add it once the rez is down to 8 gallons so they get it twice a week.

I'm looking at getting it online. Found 5 liters of Rhizo 5 of Boost and 5 of Cannazyme for 700. Just need to get some cash together.

pappy...answer me some questions first

what equipment do you currently have?

whats your project budget?

what are your realistic production goals?

will everything be housed in that one room? (veg and bloom)

it looks like you have a line running into your attic, what size is that?

and it looks like a 6 inch duct port in a window,is that right?

Yeah i was just quoted 550 for a 5 liter . I was thinking every other rez fill (18 gallon ) in flower . that would like 4 days of boost & the next 4 without ..... i dunno . maybe just less of a dose & feed every day ???? whats your dose per gallon ???

Pappy .... first thing you need to consider before ALL ELSE is power consumption !!! if you don't have enough juice in the room ... nothing else matters . your bedroom is max 20 amps & will barely run what your using now .

I have 4 20 amp 110 volt circuits & 1 20 amp 220 volt circuit ( just for lights ) in the attic & i'm pretty close to maxed myself .

figure out what your going to run for lights, Fans, AC, Heat suppliment ..... everything . & we can figure out how much power your going to need in that room . more than likely a 30 amp control center will cover most of the grow stuff but then you need a line for AC .... unless nothing else is plugged into the bedroom circuit .
