I always manicure wet. Chop, flip upside down on the back of a chair and trim branch by branch. Mind you this will still take a while lol, I've gone up to 6 hours plus trimmin' just one. I'm sure those would take at least that, perhaps chop one a night for five nights next run lol

Still not done yet. I have to keep taking breaks, to give my neck a rest from time to time. I am also trying to slowly get things cleaned up and ready for a new grow. Lots to do, barely enough energy to do it!

I just finally took the 5 gal buckets outside to empty them. Thought I'd finally show the roots to you all. I must say, as dense of a root system this is, it looks like there was room for several more weeks of vegetative growth if wanted:

Preliminary results are in, but I honestly don't have a final weight. I'm just so excited, I had to tell someone...

I've already weighed all the popcorn nugs, lower buds, and buds that grew on the periphery, and that weighs a almost exactly 4 ounces. Now I've done a partial weigh in of the highest grade buds, and that came in at 12 ounces! Well, the amount I have left to weigh is probably upwards of an ounce. So I've definitely exceeded a pound.

I just had to tell someone. :D

Edit: Okay, the final weight is exactly 457 grams. I'm okay with that! I would have liked more, but this was the minimum I would have been happy with, so I'm good. :D

That translates to 16.3 ounces, for the mathematically challenged (such as myself). That also doesn't include the half ounce or so that my wife and I have already been puffing on throughout the manicure. Also, I trimmed these buds down to their naked selves. So there's a lot of fantastic sugar leaf to make oil with! How much exactly? 12.3 ounces. That is a lot of oil to make, for me anyway. :)

Hush...outstanding job my friend. Loved your grow thread . Wish I had more rep to give ya.

You pretty much sold me on the hempy buckets too.

2 questions for ya tho.

1, what are you feeding ? Did you flush at the end or feed straight through ? (I apologize if its in here, but I didn't find it)

&
2, how does hempy bucket grown weed taste in comparison to soil ?

Anyways, thanks for the informative thread. Have fun harvesting...haha ;)

Okay I ended up not being able to upload a lot of the pictures due to identifying marks and other things. Sorry about that. But of the remaining ones, here were my favorite five:

That's a quarter-pound on the left, and a half-pound on the right, all of it the highest grade of the grow.

Have you tried any yet? What are your plans for drying and curing?

If I remember correctly you were going to quick dry some earlier. How did that work out?

I'll be harvesting towards the end of this week. Getting impatient and running out of smoke..!

Very well rooted. Looks like you could have vegged for a bit longer no problem. And fine looking bud too, ought to keep ya medicated!

2, how does hempy bucket grown weed taste in comparison to soil ?

1. I used GH Flora series 3-part, as lucas formula (only micro and bloom). I did flush for a little over a week, because that's what I was used to with recirculating hydro, and I believe it could have flushed more, so next time I will do a 2 week flush. Something about the drain-to-waste aspect of hempy causes it to stay a little greener at harvest than it does in a flood and drain setup.

2. I am assuming you are referring to organics when you say soil, since soil-grown weed fed with chem nutes is actually hydro, just like this is. And yes, one *could* make that argument, because organic buds tend to taste pretty smooth right off the stem, while hydro usually needs to cure a week or so. That said, I can tell you that the taste of these buds is pretty much exactly the same taste I always get from hydro buds that were flushed, and are being smoked before a proper cure. The taste doesn't come through as strongly just yet, and the smoke is ever-so-slightly "hot" but not harsh by any means. This fixes itself after a week or so in the jars.

I certainly have tried it!!! I was smoking quick dried buds since about 2 days before harvest! :D I was smoking the quick dried stuff all throughout the drying process, then after the drying was completed, I was smoking the popcorn nugs of that, and then as the days went by while I was manicuring I had samples of some of the better buds. Not to mention all of the hand-rubbed hash I was smoking the entire time!!!! :dance013:

I know the feeling of being so close to harvest and running out of smoke, or even (in my own case, actually) being entirely out. So, personally, I've never had a problem taking sample buds before the harvest (only within 1 week from expected harvest date though) and then flash drying in the microwave. There are usually several budsites that are "expendable" for different reasons, and I cull those. Obviously you don't want to harvest the main branches. Only maybe the tiny buds at the bottom of the branches. In my experience, even smoking quick-dried, slightly-premature, larfy buds is way more pleasant and effective than most of the crap that people around me smoke (which is all that excess CO crap weed that makes its way out here, don't get me started!!!!). So the choice is simple, if I need to get high... I flash dry some early-picked.

Thanks man!!! I like that imagery. It dawned on me after that photo session that I should have had the remaining QP in the shots, so I could have shown the entire pound! Oh well. It was the not-so-highest grade, all the lower portions of the main branches, and it was already jarred up and in the dark. I didn't feel like disturbing them.

I'm hungry for a bowl of cereal now...

Thanks man. I mentioned the weight on the previous page, but here's an itemized breakdown:

Highest grade, small nugs = 97g / 3.5oz
Highest grade, large buds = 228g / 8.1oz
Just plain high grade buds = 112g / 4.0oz
Larfy popcorn buds = 20g / 0.7oz

Total yield = 457g / 16.3oz

This does not include the estimated half ounce or so that was smoked between my wife and me before the weigh-in occurred.

There is also 12.3 ounces of sugary leaf to make oil with!
