Kale chips (chard chips, too)

So my question here is, how many of you have eaten kale chips, and actually enjoy it? I like the idea of them, but not sure if I will like them, and there aren't any stores near me that sell them (that I'm aware of).

Then the thought occurred to me that kale is very similar in texture to chard, and I grow tons of chard because they are actually among my favorite of ornamental plants! But I don't eat them because of the bitter apple-skin-like flavor. But, maybe I should try making chard chips in the manner that kale chips are made, and give that a try.

Has anyone tried chard chips before?

I just want to find a way to actually enjoy the nutrional aspects of my chard plants instead of just their ornamental value.

Funny you ask. Earlier today I was telling a friend about my new found love for kale chips. Couple of weeks ago I saw a woman next to me in the grocery store buying a ton of kale. I asked what she was planning on doing with such a ridiculous amount of kale. She quickly schooled me on the kale chips right there in line. Prepared some the following day and now I find my self having some every couple of days. The strange thing is I thought a lot of nutrition would be lost by heating the kale to the point of it being crispy. However I really think there is still significant amount of nutrition surviving the heating process. My data is completely anecdotal but it really seems to be helping with some skin issues I have.

I really prefer the red curly, or the laciano kale. Spray with some olive oil, salt and season a little, toss in the oven, at 350-400. Keep close eye , it can burn before you know it. it really comes down to the timing, you want it just crispy enough so its not soggy at all but before it starts to go dark brown.

I love it with some black beans, guacomole, and some mango salsa.

My wife or I make kale chips weekly, tastes great. I make mine with rosemary infused grapeseed oil and light salt, pepper, and coriander mix.

Awesome. I just realized I confusingly asked 2 questions, but I'm glad people are answering anyway. :D

I know I need to try out kale chips, but I haven't found a place yet that sells them. Nearest Whole Foods is far away. But I strongly suspect that chard chips would be similar to kale chips, especially after being seasoned with rosemary and other herbs. But if the chard chips don't work out, I plan on sourcing some kale chips.

What about chips and salsa? I just got a big bag of tortilla chips from costco, and a huge container of salsa. I can eat it all day!
