Nepal Jam

DAMNNNNN

I got 2 nepjam as freebies, gave my friend one and it came out a gorgeous male, but my brow isn´t much of a seed maker, so unfortunatly got culled, I got a seed left to pop, once I get the room in my chamber, will cross my fingers for a chuncky lady =)

Greetings,

I'm re-posting this bit from the "introduce yourself" page. The plants are Nep Jam so I hope it is legit.

I've been a lurker on this fantastic forum for some time. I'm so grateful for all the shared knowledge and everything I've learned.

Is it OK to ask a few questions here?

I've been following Verdant Green closely because of the LED action. If VG could take a look at my setup and give some feed back I'd be thrilled. Also most interested in hearing from others with good experience.

This is my first try. I've got 4 nep jams and 1 eight miles high (sativas) just starting to show female preflowers. I potted them from 1 gals to 4 gals monday and placed them under the screen set at 10 inches. They had been growing outdoors in plastic pots and same aged organic soil. I'm at 40N. I brought them inside under a 550 actual watt LED 22" height spacing. They are decently branched from topping and super cropping. I'm wondering if i should set them at 12/12 right now or give them a bit more veg time. They showed cotyledons on july 4. They have been growing outdoors since then. I'm at 40N.

The soil is well aged and organic. The white tops in the pots are a 2" layer of perlite to keep gnats and critters from getting interested. The temps run between 80 and 92 F. I have about 5' available height but I am shooting for a full and even scrog canopy.

Peaceful Blessings on 9/11

Welcome to ICMag Mo,

If your plants were started early July, then they should be enough mature now to flower properly, the garden conditions seem to be fine, im not very familiarized with LEDs but there are a few growers around like Terpene achieving great results with this kind of lamps, please let us know if you have any doubt during its development.

Terpene, those plants are looking nice and frosty. The flower structure of the pheno you have is similiar to that first awesome Nep Jam I grew that looked quite Blue Mountain leaning and stretchy. I'm curious. How often do you run into phenos like this while popping seeds?

I already broke down and posted a couple pics on this forum and I suppose there isn't much difference between two photos and three so I'll put up the one bad pic I took of my original Nep Jam to see if others have come across the pheno and how common it is. It was my first time so I didn't try to clone her and I've been regretting it ever since. This is a bad photo taken in bad lighting and the plant had been hanging out to dry for a couple days. Sorry about the poor condition of it but at the time I was against taking pics so I only took this one quick snapshot to remember her by. She was such a beautiful plant with super frosty blueish bud and leaves that turned rainbow autumn colors near the end. The leaves were huge. In that photo, you are seeing the top 3 or 4 feet of the plant and the largest leaves are bigger than my hands. She was about as tall as me when I took her down. I would love to find another like her but I think she was a pretty unusual pheno. Anyone have any idea how common or uncommon a pheno like this is?

I really miss that plant.

550 watts? Damn thats a lot of LED light. You may find that they start turning white (bleaching) at the top most points of the buds - if so, back the light off just a smidge.

In general, I would say wait till the screen is full before flipping, but you can flip at any point and you'll get solid bud, just smaller than you would from larger plants. (Big plants = big colas) I just saw the shot at 25 days, everything looks perfect. Keep doing what you're doing and don't try to push em with ferts - there will be plenty of time for that in the future.

You sir are the talented one. I just shove em in a closet and let em go. Thanks again!

How often do you run into phenos like this while popping seeds?

I planted 3 seeds, 1 was male and 2 were female. I killed the male, ran both females. I don't really select plants (unless one of the plants is very weak growing) and I refuse to run huge numbers of beans to find the best phenos. If you have to do that, find another seed company.

Thanks for your thoughts Terp. The kill a watt on the lamp reads about 480 watts. I have the lamp about 20 inches above canopy right now and i dont observe bleaching.

I am getting a few yellow leafs low down on the stems. Would you suggest a dose of nutes? So far these plants have been running on well aged soil, 1 light dose of organic tomato food and watering with molasses. Since this is a 1st grow im wondering if i am on pace for a decent run with about 5 weeks to go.

Cool, it looks like the pheno I am chasing is pretty common. Thanks for the response. I've been debating picking up another pack of seeds and this has helped me decide to do it.

thank you... finally a little sanity... it drives me crazy when I read guys buying 2-3..or more packs to find that 'special' phenol..

I suppose discerning the pheno's is a skill that takes a while to master ??? I have 5 plants and they all look the same to me. In fact there is a 8 mile high mixed in that I can't ID.

Here's a clone of one of the Nep Jams. Which pheno group might this belong to?

This was my first time rooting a cutting. Plenty o' roots!

Not really a skill to be mastered as it is just noting the differences. These are 3 phenos from a Tom Hill Haze F2. If you compare the leaves and growth structure, you can see how each particular plant represents the genetics within the line as it leans one way or the other.

Best advice, let em grow till they're a 18inches tall and then get baked and stare at em a while - you'll start to see the differences. Then line them up from thinnest to fattest leaf and there ya go, the bell curve between the two parents.

Yes and no. It helps to note differences in veg and then see how things progress in flower. Generally speaking, in flower plants really start looking different - one is stretchier, or buds denser, or fall colors develop differently, etc.

It also really helps to look at pictures of the parents for an idea of what is what.
