day 239 / 13 flo

day 239 / 13 flo

Thanks for the advice. I'll stick with the silica for this run. There eventually will be another tray so maybe a side by side with KB is in the future.

So today is day 13 of flower. Hopefully stretch is coming to an end. Few more days and I will start removing fans. I have done some clean up of the bottoms and insides. Fans closest to the light are curling a little bit, but it could also be all the air movement from the fan as they are hanging in the air stream. They will be plucked first so I'm not concerned. I am a little worried that once buds start to form the branches will lean in closer to the light. Temps at 6" from the bulb are steady ay 10F over ambient, normally about 88. That will improve as summer winds down.

Aero cloner was a great success. These first few pics are from 3 days ago, 7 days after they were put in. Root nubs.

Pics from today

10 days in the cloner:

The sad part is I had no use for most of those clones right now. This was just a trial run. All except my new Afghani Mango mom were binned. Put in 5 of each of the other 2 DSD females I found.

Flower day 13 (DSD#4 not pictured)

Midas is about maxing out. Can see the tallest cola just behind the light. The AK are turning in at the front edges to form a nice canopy around the DSD which its up front.

And what I hauled out of my garden today!

Jar of pickles to show the scale of the huge ass cuc I found lurking under a tomato plant.

thanks for reading :joint:

go go o-high-o. love seeing the local strains, your d-star is very colorful. is that a d-star clone or from a S1 seed?

If you used Koolbloom and it burnt your plants, you either over applied it or your plants were not that healthy to begin with.

Bloom boosters will exacerbate existing problems VERY quickly. If your plants are the picture perfect example of health, there is a lot to be gained from them. If they are in the least bit stressed or deficient, then the law of limiting factors makes your limiting factor very obvious.

IME, you should not apply kool bloom over .4g/gallon concentration.

I totally agree with DHF on the silica products, but I generally use silica products until week 6, then start using kool bloom at .25g/gal, then .3, then .4 if they are taking it well.
IJ.....I assure you , I used negligible amounts per gal koolbloom liquid AND powder BOTH times added to rez while taking away from the 3 part juice regimen to "maintain ppm`s/ec within my normal parameters of no more than 1.5 ec/750 ppms......IOW......

Shit still burned my bitches and shut em down......NPK is NPK in Chem nutes , and I never had problems with bud swellage runnin a dialed environment , proper watts per sq ft , and lower juice feeds FTW......

Silicablast and SM-90 @ 5ml per gal was in my mix from start to finish for right at 20 yrs with dialed results......

Bloom boosters were not required......Koolbloom may be beneficial to some , but not in my book.....Good luck Mr A.....

Peace.....DHF.....:ying:......

everything was pretty colorful that round due to low night temps. my deathstar is from clone. it is possible that pic is a mixup with dumpster but im 90% sure its dstar. i'll see if i can find other pics of it.

Got my other cycle timers. Flower drippers are now set for 45 sec, 3 times per lights on.

Some shots of the DSD I cleaned up a bit tonight

before (front)

before (back)

after (back)

back in her spot. I bent the tomato cage into an oval and that helped spread her out. the front will wait until i start taking fans from everything.

i feel like i maybe took too much off the bottom, but the light is going to be raised a bit once stretch is fully done.

Several pages ago, but I'd like to touch on the subject of dissolving maxibloom / jacks.

Never had any trouble dissolving Jacks+Cal Nit.. it dissolves way easier then Maxibloom in my opinion. I toss roughly 130g Jacks into cold 50gal and let the pump mix it up.. dissolves completely. CalNit dissolves in seconds...

But.. hot water likely your guys' problems. Use regular room temp water. Wasn't until I stopped using hot water to dissolve my maxi that I started successfully mixing without sediment.

Hot water does not help the situation as suggest earlier in this thread.. It likely exacerbates the problem.

The Mg, Ca, and Fe in maxibloom are in a meta-stable soluble state when dissolved in cold water. The concentrated hot dilution method does not and will not ever work since it provides the activation energy to form the insoluble Ca3(PO4)2 (Ksp=2.07x10^-33), Mg3(PO4)2 (Ksp=1.04x10-24), and FePO4(Ksp=9.91x10-16). The solubility constant (Ksp) defines the thermodynamics governing the solubility of a particular salt. Thus calcium has the lowest solubility next is magnesium finally iron phosphate happens to be a little more soluble. Heat is what provides the activation energy to form these highly insoluble salts which are practically impossible to redissolve. so we should all be in agreement that best practice is not to heat maxibloom. I think 50 ppm calcium is recommended for plants which comes to 1.25x10-3 M. If you heat maxi the max conc of calcium at equilibrium would be 4.9x10-7 M. This is 0.039% of recommended Ca similar levels for Mg and Fe would precipitate the deficiencies. Aged maxibloom that turns hard in solid form is forming these product thus the insolubles. This is probably why is not good to use old wet maxi. Keep in a sealed contain since the reseal ziplock on the bag is shite.

FF - thanks for the info. I tried last night with regular room temp RO and got the same results if not faster dissolving than with hot tap. This is with Jack's now. No more maxibloom. The calc nit dissolves no problem. I toss it in the res when I start refilling and the water movement takes care of it.

Hope your all having a good holiday. Got some baby back ribs on. Just finished up hour one. Bass paired with a joint of SLH.

So it looks like my modular screen table idea is not quite going to workout. I'm seeing some burn start on a few leaves. I moved the light up a few more inches so it is not near the "fattest" part of the donut and will see if this helps. Light's on temps in the canopy sit around 85F.

I'm considering ditching the table and going with one big flat surface. My original concern was reaching into the room from the doorway to do training and leaf trimming. I figured this nice mobile table I could get all around it without straining my back and neck. However, I would have much more canopy area if I just attached the screen right to the walls and worked through the pain. Just gotta man up I guess haha.

Not sure at this point how I will proceed. The plants are already trained to the screens. Maybe I can just get through the next 5 weeks and then go in and do some reconstruction and hold off on the second donut in the meantime. Maybe I'll decide to roll the table out as is, put in the new base, then try to gently move all the plants to their new homes.

I'll get some pics up tonight of the damage and see what you all think.

so the screen/table rig did not work out. if i had more space and could size it right it would be awesome. however, space being at a premium, i opted to move the screening to the 3 walls and build one large flat surface for everything. it looks like this is going to turn into more of a colosseum than 2 donuts. i still need to lay in a few more pieces of ply and the pond liner, but the plants have been moved (what a huge pain in the ass).

The end result is temps in the canopy are about 4-5F lower and gained probably 4" of distance around the light.

Current donut:

Next round, currently a 3/4 donut. I will try and rearrange things in some logical way once the rest of the floor is in. 4 "Candy" - my highest yielder.

The Midas is looking happier. Still a slight def. going on. Fan removal continues

quick update

quick update

Another quick update. This weekend I did a few things:

- finished floor/base for chamber. cut intakes and laid in pond liner
- re-routed fan ducting to decrease noise
- added second 600w ballast. cleaned up cords
- ... feels like there was more stuff

I built the new base mostly out of scrap material. Picked up some 6" duct adapters for the "intake". Cut the pond liner so it fit snug around them and wrapped tightly with plumbers tape. Right now my watering schedule leaves very little run-off on the table. Going to try and keep it that way and ignore routing a drain for now.

Definitely more of a pain to train the back plants. However, the base is 1/2" ply and 2x4's and can support my weight, so when I pull out the front 2 plants which are simply staked up, I can crawl in and train and pull fans.

In progress

The 4 Candy for round 2. Few days into flower. The are stretchy monsters which should cover the walls nicely. Can see one of the intakes at the bottom.

Other plants around day 30 of flower. I believe that is a DSD bud right up in front of the camera. Everything else is pretty blurry. Need a real camera.

Just a shot from outside once I cleaned up. Calendar on the wall, cords routed nicely.

Next to the dehuey you can see a furnace filter covering the 2 4" intakes. The 4" intakes are run underneath the table where the resevoirs are. The 6" ducts in the table allow cool air from below to be pulled up then out the top of the chamber. Temps in the canopy are 5F over ambient. Ambient is 75-80 right now and cooling down by the day.

those look real nice. my pure ak are just starting to flower. they are some monsters. this round i had all tall sativa leaning phenotypes but last time i ran them i got a real nice shourt and stocky indica with almost no stretch. i still have a cut of her for any SOG grows

I would say this Pure AK is 60/40 Sativa leaning. The overall structure and size and stretch lend towards the Sativa side, but I feel like the amount of secondary branching (bushiness) and bud formation are more indica. Excited to see how she smokes. The AKs are from 2 different seeds but are overall extremely similar. Always pretty amazed at how stable the FMS beans are and what good genetics you can get for a reasonable price.

Grabbed 2 quick shots last night. First is the Candy side, 21 days in. Stretch is about over and buds are coming in. Second is just a shot of an Afgahni Mango cola which the picture does no justice to. Foot long spears of greasy goodness.

Day 57 Flower #1

Day 57 Flower #1

Some shots from Day 57 of flower. Pulled the DSD tonight, found about 20% amber. Could have maybe gone a few more days. Everything else will go to 70ish. The person who I usually borrow a nicer camera from has lent it to someone else for a few weeks. Will have to do make do with the cell phone camera for this harvest.

Another Afgahni Mango bud. You can see the top cola of the other AM plant in the background which is even bigger but tied up and hard to get a pic of.

A Pure AK bud. This plant fell over a few days ago it got so top heavy. Added some string from the ceiling to keep it upright.

Here is the right side of the chamber. Everything is starting to fill out into a nice canopy.

And the last moments of the DSD
