breeding question

Hey everyone I hope all is well on your end.... I recently grew an autopurple from paradise seeds and polinated her with a thc bomb male I tried to find information on breeding auto flower plants and basically everyone says back cross to another auto flower but that isnt an option for me as I dont have any more auto genetics to work with so ultimately my question is.... could I stabilize a new autoflower strain from the seeds ive just created? Or would I need to obtain another source of auto genetics for "back crossing?"

the easy answer is yes you now have the auto flowering trait locked into your seeds find the best two plants you can in the f1 seeds you made and cross these together you may find some autos in the f2's if not do the same again dcross two f2's to get f'3s you will probably find some autos in the f2's then by crossing a auto f2 male with an auto f2 female f3's that will auto flower good luck hope this helps

I assume it isn't the preferred route and certainly not the fastest but i'm going to keep my fingers crossed that i can get some auto action out of the f2's if so i plan to try and stabilize my own cross... wish me luck maybe i can get something special. thanks for your response

no problem we are all here to learn and help others well most of us are !!! the key here is to start with the best female and male you can from the seeds you have made take a cutting of each female flower the mothers and keep best as for the male select for smell overall look of plant health etc or use a number of males on the selected female to ensure you will find the genetic you are looking for as they will have more variation using several males good luck on your project keep us informed

This is a bit off topic but say you only had feminised genetics both auto and photosensitive, would you be able to develop a stable cross using only CS?

im unsure what you mean by stable ... stable in genetic terms or photosensitive terms ?

if you mean photosensitive terms it would work the same as my first post just female to female cross no males this may be easier as its easier to choose good females to cross it takes a good breeder to be able to pick out the best males

if you mean in genetic terms then for a short term project then yes its ok but it would not be a good idea for a long term project like genetic preservation due to mutation ie hermaphrodites etc

I sprouted two of those beans I crossed and threw a couple more in another pot they will essentially be 12/12 from seed hoping to get the f2's out in the summer to see if I can get some auto's to express

nice its a work already in progress :comfort: im sure you will find what your looking for in the f2's ive grown a auto purple once before mine was from pyramid seeds i think it was not purple but it was a awesome smoke ! did your turn out purple and how was the smoke ?

It was definitely purple but as far as potency I cant say I don't have much to compare it to before I grew that plant it had been 5 years or so since I had smoked I was in the military..... but its was like one hitter quitter to me at first now I can smoke a bowl to myself I should be able to compare it here shortly though the stone to me was very couch lock.... the smell was mostly fruity slightly citrus flavor is kinda like how I remembered hazes to taste.

the way I made seed was I harvested the top then pollinated the lower branches with airy little popcorn buds

nice looking plant ive never grown any seeds from that vendor before i will add that to my next seed purchase ive grown four purple strains an never got a purple plant !

I received it as a freebie and it opened my eyes to the potential of autos I see places everywhere I go that you could grow a few compact plants

yes they are stealthy little things they could fit into most spaces theirs now an auto for every one from micro growers to people looking to maximize there grow spaces and fill up there veg rooms i think the auto strains will continue to get better ....

how is the project moving along any progress

Things are coming along I have one male identified by preflowers and the other hasn't showed and signs of sex yet today is day 5 of 12/12 I have 3 sprouts going 12/12 from seed my intention is to select the best male and best female out of those 5 plants to breed I wish I had more space to do this so I could look at all the phenos but im pretty limited on what I can accomplish but next summer should be pretty good

Here is one male ive selected for breeding based on how it was more vigorous and smelly than its runt counterpart I do not have a female f1 to breed him with yet.... I am going to 12/12 from seed quite a few others and hopefully find a couple females worth breeding I think that I should breed several individual males and females from the f1 generation as the auto flower gene is recessive I figure it could only help ensure that I will have a few autos in the f2 generation to work off of
