Dear Swamp man
No rapid rooters.., but I have used jiffy of peat, and coco, I prefer coco..
No need for rock wool, if you don´t feel like it. The roots will adapt fine once they get into the hydro system. I have done this with great success on rdwc myself.
Maybe someone disagree, would be interesting to hear why.
All the best

Yes and they work fine. You can clone in anything mentioned.. most anything really.

You can also just drop them in a cup of water and you'll get roots

Yes I PREFER to use Rapid Rooters in DWC (surrounded by hydroton) and I have a friend who also regularly uses them in low pressure aero, too (small "square fence rail" system).

Indeed, if you do not have access to clones, they are the preferred medium for starting a seedling in low pressure aero where rockwool gets too water logged for that system and Jiffy will break down too much over time and will clog the sprayer heads.

Short strokes: Rapid Rooters work great in hydroponics (they ARE a ph-balanced General Hydroponics product after all, mftrd from tree bark) and do not break down easily as they interact with water so that they DO NOT end up clogging your stone/sprayers. Use Rapid Rooters with confidence in such hydro systems -- it's exactly what they were designed and intended for.

Yes, rapid rooters work fantastic transplanted into hydroponic systems. I have been using them for several years now, in DWC, flood and drain, and drain to waste setups. Rapid rooters (and all the other similar brands) are awesome, and they win over rockwool cubes (unless I know for a fact I will be staying in rockwool throughout the entire grow, which is almost never). They don't crumble apart or dissolve, they are ph-neutral, they are fairly cheap, and they are easy to work with.

Go for it.
