hush grows up! 1000w MH/HPS in 4x4 tent

Looking good Hush!! What do your temps get up to during lights on with the 1000W blasting? What about the humidity, doesnt it spike way up at night? No problems with powdery mildew? I am asking because I also have a 4 x 4 tent that I run a dehuie in, and I don't think I would be able to keep it cool enough in the tent with a 1000Watter. I have a 400W with a few LEDs, I don't think I could upgrade to a 1000W-but maybs a 600Watter. Thanks for the info, lookin' awesome in there!

Nah, no humidity spikes to worry about. It goes up to ~65% at lights-off. Lights-on it's at ~40%. I do constantly check for mold, though. I don't guess my environment is ideal for it, for whatever reason. I don't know if it's because I just have a lot of airflow, with the circulating fans and the exhaust fan running 24/7, or if it's because of the humidity levels, or what. But I do check for it. I'll never get complacent about that.

Temps stay right at 75° directly under the canopy. At night time the temp drops down to 67°. I definitely would not be able to do this without an air conditioner in the room, on full blast. But it's worth it to me. I moved up to this from a 400, and it is so much hotter!

Hmmm, I also exhaust my tent full blast all the time as well. How high is your light? I also have a window a/c. Yeah, I bet your yields sky-rocketed! Someday I think I'll upgrade to a 600W. Thanks again, take care!

I keep the light about 16-18 inches above the canopy. I actually think next time I might experiment keeping it as far away as 20-24 inches, to see if that equalizes the light footprint better. I sure hope my yields DID skyrocket! I guess I'll find out when I weigh it all in a week or 2.

Time to drop the nitrogen to none and some more potassium and phosphorus to help the ripening.
And a good flush on the next watering.

They don't look ready to me :-S

More P and K right next to harvest does not help ripen... it helps harden buds, and also helps make them not burn so well, leaving behind black soot instead of white ash. Also, the nitrogen (among all other nutes) has been dropped already, exactly a week ago.

I know what you mean though. It's a characteristic of most of the Mandala strains I've ever grown. They keep spitting fresh pistils right up to the day of harvest. Word on the streets is it has something to do with the landrace genetics.

I just finished defoliating all the plants. I can now see all the bud, and I think I can better predict the weight now... I think I'm safely at or just over a pound. I still think my goal of 25 ounces is possible, but I'm not expecting it. I really don't think it could be any more than that though.

But a pound would be sufficient. :D

I'm too tired to upload any pictures, but I took some with my wife's camera. I'm no photographer, but at least they look better than my normal Android pics. I'll upload them tomorrow.

2 more days to go, then these come down and the Lemon Skunks go in!

Other than to get a closer look at your girls was there a reason you defoled at this point? Getting a closer look is a valid reason for sure.

I always remove the leaves right before harvest like this. It makes it easier on harvest day, first of all, but secondly it causes the plants to ripen faster on their last couple of days, provided you've already stopped feeding. It eliminates much of the plants' stored reserve of nutes, basically.

It's something I've always done, and I don't know how necessary or effective it is, but at least I get to see all the buds now.

Some look ready but some look like they could use another 2 weeks (hence giving P and K and then flushing as you will have over a week of clean water)
I drop the nitrogen to half dose about 3 weeks before harvest with coco, so about 4.5 weeks of no N at all with soil. I like the plants to yellow a bit at harvest.

If the plants keep throwing new pistils it might be excess hormones in the fertilizers, such as with Ripen or Bloombastic, or too high N, or too much light hours.

Anyhow, if it passes the smoke test there's nothing much left to examine ;-)

Thanks bud. Sadhu is just a weird plant. It is already ready, actually, but I like leaving it to 63 days because the extra couple of days help make it just slightly more narcotic. If I waited as long as you suggest, I would come back to overripe, stupefying couchlock bud, and it would still be producing fresh, white pistils. I appreciate the advice though, thank you. :)

I'm still tired, and I'm about to be late for work, so I'll upload the camera pictures later. For now, here are a quick few shots of the plants back in the tent:

Here are the Lemon Skunk clones that are waiting patiently for their turn:

Hush.. I've been reading this thread thru and I'm very impressed with your results. I did notice this picture and a red flag went up right away.. That aluminum pan you've got those clones in is a bad idea. The salts from you nutrients will cause some bad and toxic reactions that can effect your roots. I always use plastic in my grow room for almost everything.. especially things that come in contact with my plants roots. Just a thought..

Hey I appreciate that man. I guess I've never heard that before... but I've also never used an aluminum pan before, so maybe I never paid attention. Anyway, thank you for bringing that to my attention! I have to admit, I'm not seeing any negative impact, and in fact the clones are all doing really well, but I recognize that that doesn't mean anything. What you're saying makes sense, and I just didn't really think about it. I won't do that anymore, and I'll go ahead and swap the tray out this evening.

Thanks dude. :)

yeah...and instead use that pan to make some "magic" brownies from that upcoming "heavy" harvest of yours ;)

It turns out I am a worse photographer than I thought I was. For every picture that was halfway decent, there were 10 that made me dizzy looking at them. So here are the 5 that didn't make me nauseous:

Ur pictures are as good or better than most.. extremely healthy plants.. gonna have to go back and read the particulars.. went and read on the strain and they're out of stock right now at my preferred vendor. How much longer you think you got? Have you grown this strain before and is this from seed. (I know.. I should look back.. but i'm stoned)
