Ottawa awards first medical pot licences under new rules to Saskatoon firm Read more

SASKATOON -- A Saskatoon company has been granted the first two licences to produce and distribute medical marijuana under new Health Canada pot rules.

Prairie Plant Systems Inc. and its subsidiary, CanniMed Ltd., are to sell three brands of pharmaceutical-grade marijuana for people with chronic and terminal illnesses.

Each brand has a different strength of THC -- the active ingredient in pot.

The company, which has been Health Canada's only supplier for 13 years, says the medical marijuana can be used to treat pain, nausea and stimulate appetite.

The licences mean the company can begin producing the pot, but it is not clear when it will be available to patients by prescription.
Under new federal rules that go into effect next April, authorized users of medical pot can no longer grow their own, but must purchase their supply from a licenced producer.

no big surprise there. A whole three varieties, that's very generous of them.... would you like the weak, weaker, or weakest variety sir?.....

I know that was fucked up...but I think it was in last regs that it had to be broken up and mulled into shake...

The current regs, I think there is more freedom...as to the actual product.

Is there's no plant limits the SOG is fine and the weed will still be potent as any 4 month plant.

from CanniMeds website

http://cannimed.ca/pages/our-products-new

CanniMed® pharmaceutical-grade cannabis products are made from the flowering head, or “bud” of the female Cannabis sativa spp. indica plant. The cannabis plant material is dried under strict conditions to ensure proper curing of the herbal material while lessening the chance of contamination and fungal opportunity. Moisture content is monitored for consistency and to ensure appropriate usability and stability of the stored product. The cannabis plant material is milled to create a homogenous product for consistency of dosage. Dose consistency is required for research and therapeutic purposes, allowing the overseeing healthcare practitioner to be confident in the level of THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) and/or CBD (cannabidiol) the patient is receiving.
:blowbubbles:

sounds pretty technical, must be some high tech faggotry going on for them to being able to 'control the moisture for consistency'

Mmmm, ground industrial weed....it's whats for breakfast

lol indeed too funny chil.lol

My biggest concearn with these idiots at this point is when they finally do give up n go under n file, who or how the fuck is the gov. going to go get back all OUR money they been handing over to these useless twats.
I'm curious why that's never ever braught up to say the helth minister as to why our tax dollars are paying for a company to grow pot nobody wants in one of the highest consuming countries of the product in general?
Nobody ever sees fit to see what the answer is when there's a camera pointed at thier mugs?
Pretty sure it'd get the band wagon rolling on shutting these idiots down if not prohibition iteslf if the rest of the public truely new how much they were paying these tools to do something that in the end is useless to any patients n doesn't do nothing but line thier pockets with OUR cash.

meh same old same old I guess.

Still a perfect excuse for a judge to quash thier entire program though. lol
Not like anyone in thier right mind would actually use that crap so at least the inevitable fall from grace will be entertaining to watch eventually also.
Soon as we stop letting the government pay them with OUR cash I'd imagine.

cheers all,..........................................................gps

"CanniMed® products are available in 10 gram and 30 gram amounts and are priced $9 to $12 per gram."

Anyone else notice that?

Terrible... Those bottles are pennies. I'm still having mixed opinions of this new program. Not sure I even want to bother trying

Try what?
Just get your med form filled out n keep it as your proof of being above the cdsa.
The rest including anything HC says is meaningless.
If the law itself wasn't enough to stop the sick HC who has 0 authority much less legislative authority (not that the sick wouldn't be exampt from any newly written laws anyhow) has no place to tell any patient otherwise.
Just prove your legal case n do for yourself.
Hell ppl have been doing this for a loooooong time without any permission at all even with the law against them, what's to worry about once you're above said laws.

Lets not forget all these idiotic program plans n trying to get ppl to sign on contractually are hardly mandatory, and nothing more than an excuse for the gov to go against previously mandated court rulings to strike cannabis from the cdsa out right.
Smoke n mirrors feeding off ppl's fears is all they have saying you have to participate in anything they rig up.
If the law itself didn't stand a chance in court what chance in hell do HC's regulations?

cover your legalities, n do for yourself, than sit back n watch the show.:)

It's a very different time with very different opinions setting at the top of the court system. Lets hope you are correct.
