Well, are you ducting it straight outside, or is it circulating into a lung room type of deal? Going straight outside in winter is going to be a pretty standard red flag. watch out for humidity and frosting on your windows if using a lung room.

If you're out in the country and nobody can see what you're doing, or, if you can vent it through a chimney or vent stack that looks like it should be venting hot air during the winter, you should be in better shape.

Oh, the noise.........you're worried about the noise? How big of a mini split are we talking about? Haven't ever used one that ever gets louder than a household furnace at full bore.

Since mini-splits also come in heat pumps I would say, no worries running it in winter. If a neighbor ask just tell them it is a heat pump.

Nothing to see here, Just a box on the wall that blows air. My wife is sick. Not sure you would want to get what she has. Besides anyone that has been thinking about getting 1 has already seen what they look like :dunno:

yes its a minni split and no air is being vented its a completly sealed room. its not super loud but its running a lot.i wish there was something i could do about the noise. it does have a heat pump but i still think it may cause some raised eyebrows if its runnning with snow on the ground.

I just got my mini split installed!!!!!!
love it.
my neighbor asked me what was going on. I simply said I was having a heater installed so I didn't have to burn a wood stove all winter to keep the back house warm. she is a VERY nosey 75 year old neighbor. but she is cool and keeps a close eye on things....
i am so glad i got a Mitsubishi, it doesn't make ANY noise. doubt there will be any problems on my end.
she did ask to see. i told her im sorry, i cant let u in there. to much stuff laying around, don't want anyone to get hurt climbing over tools and loose wood piles and such. she said it looks great! hahahaha
good luck! doubt you will have any true worries!
