Transkei Trip

Hey all, I'm planning a trip to Transkei very soon. Going to be hitting Port St Johns and Coffee Bay.

I'm going to be doing some great genetics collecting and just enjoying beatifull SA!

I wanted to ask anyone familiar with the two venues a few things.

First off,I know the dank is pretty common but are there any specific places to look/things to do to get the BEST local Ganja around?

Is it possible to go see the herb fields? I heard it was... How do I go about organising a trip to one of these fields?

Are the majic mushies as common and good as I heard and how are they in terms of quality and effect?

Also just any tips from anyone with experience in the areas like cool places to go, 'secret' spots only locals know, things to do etc. Or experiences they'd like to share...

I know it's going to be a killer time and hopefully some top notch genetics collected too!

Cheers, Ah.:coffee:

There was an article in Skunk magazine that someone had visited Transkei. It looked like a good trip and was fruitful. This months magazine of Skunk.

Hell I would fly down there if I had the funds, sounds like a killer time.

Take care and good luck.

well my first advice would be to go late may - early july as it's main harvest time... which is self explanantory!

the summer (dec - march) weed supplies are heavily depleted as most of the stash has been shipped out. i'm sure you would still manage to find some good shit, but the best i've had in summer visits has been compressed to shit and just... average... that being said, i wasn't on a hunt, just there to chill the f out!

the best weed i've encountered in the 'kei was from lusiksiki district, which is further inland, close to port st. johns. we would drive along the tiny pot-holed dirt roads to traditional xhosa villages surrounding, where my friend entered into negotiations (he speaks fluent xhosa)... it was darker than usual lime green, but not of the rooibart variety... more crystalline hazey type... i couldn't give you directions, though, as it was 13 years ago!!

kofi bay was also a goldmine for the goods, but we just scored luck once again... passed out in ther car on arrival, and got woken up by a dude with a section of amazing transkei lime greens... he took us off to the local township, and we bargained away with some dudes for the 'number 1's'... basically you gotta be willing to trust some locals. there are some cool backpackers in kofi bay, though, and i'm sure you could get what you're after with a bit of chatting!

we were then escorted by the same chap into the surrounding hills, where we were exposed to varying qualities from various villages, but generally either lime green or rooibart... either way!!

the next few times we went to score in the 'kei, we just drove until we found villages, and then just asked for 'intsango' and 'number 1' when they brought lower quality... we generally stuck to kofi bay, as it was a little closer than lusi/port st. johns...

unfortunately these forays saw all the seed getting chucked away etc. as growing/genetics wasn't a part of our mindset... i mean, the weed was there all the time!!

also never went or tried to see the plantations, or chowed shroomies...

good luck, brother man!! i hope you have wonderful trip. it's definitely one of the most magical beautiful places on earth

all the best

Sounds like a amazing trip to take would love to know how you got on over there african herbman and what genetics you found.

A good friend of mine has just come back from SA after going home for a wedding. Spoken to him this morning on the phone and he tells me he's got a bag of mixed seeds of Transkei genetics, sticky Transkei and swizi but no Durban p as it is not as easy to find any more but not impossible. Cant wait to catch up with him tonight for a smoke and find out more.

Wow this is an old thread, I would have missed African Herbsman by about 2 years earlier. Not drug related at all but when I was there there was a pub outside of Coffee Bay I think it was called the Raptors Nest or similar but it was perched right up on top of a big hill over looking everything. Definitely worth a visit. Just a small place but the owners were really cool.

Got rooibaard in the town itself though. Nice giggly high for me. Was not game to bring the seeds on the plane though. Would have been cool to see how they grew.

Quiet late here:

wotamess knows what hes talking about and ive actually experienced what hes talking about having gone to the eastern cape in sept and may the very next year, trust me with this. Go in MAY/June its harvest time and everyone is more than welcoming.

Look there's slight dynamics involved to my experience. And ultimately it will depend on who you're able to meet and what their willing to let you in on. Lots of selfish RASTA's in SA don't get that twisted.

Give thanks. Blessings

I really need to go to SA one day my friend has been showing me loads of picture of his trip back home and it looks jaw dropping amazing. Think he planning a trip back there next year for a seed run, may have to come along for the adventure as his last trip was more of a family orientated trip.

Funny how things turn out, in our younger days (lol 5 or so years ago) me and my friend was both offered jobs out in SA working for mercedes, even suppied us with house and car each but we both turned it down.

Life dynamics my man, life dynamics. If i where you, id embrace every other chance i wouldn't have taken in in my 'younger" days :)

SA is great, just be familiar with somebody that's familiar the situations and all will unravel like a sweet sticky dream.lol

Have a good one.

Give Thanks
