Let me make a brief introduction and tell you a little bit about myself. I'm Smoke_A_Lot and this will be my first grow diary, my green thumbs probably rusty because i haven't grown in quite some time but that never stopped me from coming here and lurking, getting my fair share of info out of the great threads and members on this forum not to mention plenty of inspiration. I'm truly in love with Mary Jane, cannabis definitely improves the quality of my life. Not to mention it's all natural!

Genetics:
(2) Chem Dawg D x SSH/C99
(1) Pine Tar Kush x Trainwreck x Sour Diesel IBL
(1)Hornswaggle (Bubblicious x Blueberry)

All four germinated, placed in cups now it's back to the waiting game until they sprout. I'll be heavily training them from the beginning (LST - gotta keep them short not working with a lot of head room. I want a nice even full canopy concentrating the light output on the colas. Super-cropping - Gonna need those branches nice and strong to hold weight. Topping - More colas, why not?
All will be grown in 4 gallon containers in a soilless mix which consists of (Peat Moss, 20% perlite, dolomite lime, Epsom salt, Epsoma Bio-Tone). My nute line up is Miracle-Gro Azalea/Camellia/Rhododendron Plant Food (30-10-10) for veg, and Miracle-Gro Bloom Booster (10-52-10) for flower. Nutes will be administered at a dilution rate of ¼ - ½ tsp per gallon of water as needed. I’ll also be using Super Thrive. Not some of the best nutes, but I’m all about simplicity and cost effectiveness. You don’t need to spend hundred of dollars to grow good weed.

Cab

The cab dimensions are 4' x 2.5' x 3.5' which consisted of some ply wood studs i built into a frame and some 6. mil panda film stapled onto it. Gonna be using a 250 watt hps, and (6) 105 watt cfl bulbs with a color spectrum of 5500k-6500k for a grand total of 880 watts. I have a Stanley blower for ventilation, Since the Stanley fan has 6” duct work, I’ll need twice the intake. At the bottom of tent I have four 3” PVC elbows (Painted black inside to light proof) which will be bringing in fresh air created by the negative pressure.

Things are moving along..

Things are moving along..

Well so far the Hornswaggle (Bubblicious x Blueberry)
and Pine Tar Kush x Trainwreck x Sour Diesel IBL have sprouted. I'm still waiting on two Chem Dawg D x SSH/C99 to pop their heads through the soil. I'm going to throw them under two 105 watt CFLs for now. Eventually I'll be using all six CFLs and the 250 watt hps. I'm still deciding if i want to build a hood for the CFLs or use "clamp lamps". Has any one ever hung CFLs vertically? I was thinking of hanging them vertically at different points close to the canopy. My thinking is the light would be distributed and concentrated on different branches that aren't getting as much light. The 250 Watt HPS only has so much light penetration, i don't have a cool tube and could only put the light so close to my babies with out scorching them. I've grown with CFLs before and i know you can put them pretty much on top of the plants with out any ill effects. I also know the closer the lights are to the plants, the more light they'll be receiving. Any CFL affectionados want to chime in?

These are the CFL's i picked up. I paid $25 for 2 bulbs, pretty cheap i guess. They're used for photography and studio lighting.

All the bulbs are rated at 105 watts, i have two different brands. Strangely one brand of the bulbs are bigger than the other brand. Here's a size comparison between the two.

Patience is a virtue..

Patience is a virtue..

I haven't been able to update lately for reasons which i won't bore you with. I've had some bad luck! The Pine Tar Kush x Trainwreck x Sour Diesel IBL shriveled up and died on me, and the Chem Dawg D x SSH/C99 germinated but never sprouted :lightning:. Thankfully i have more beans to replace those with and germinated G-13 Haze x GF/NL, Chem Dawg X Deep Blue, and another Chem Dawg D x SSH/C99. All have been put in cups, and now it's back to the waiting game. Now that's it with the bad news, now time for some good news! The Hornswaggle is going strong and just got it's first feeding of 1/4 tsp of Miracle Gro 30-10-10.

Hornswaggle in all her glory, lets hope it's a SHE.

I got around to modding my Stanley Blower, it took me less then five minutes and was a piece of cake. Eventually I'm going to construct a DIY carbon filter, I'm not too worried about odor at this point.

Can someone please tell me whats wrong with these plants? They've been growing for over two weeks now and are runts. Some discoloration on the leaves. I just repotted into 3 gallon containers today from 16 oz cups, hopefully that will solve the problem.

As of 12/3/2013 i switched to 12/12. I scrapped the CFLs and will be using those for a different project i have planned. I'm going to be getting a 400 Watt HPS/MH with a cool tube and digital ballast on pay day. Updates will be sporadic, but i'll try to update as much as i can, work takes up alot of my time unfortunately.

That 400 will do you right. If you can run both and handle the heat, go for it!

Those things look awfully stressed for being so small still.. I would raise that light up a bit or get more airflow in there..

$.02

And if by 'miracle gro' you mean the cheap garbage you buy at kmart and such.. stop it. Right now.

Ditto on the 400, it would be perfect for the size of my cab.

I've been using miracle grow for years, why should i change what works? Why should i go out and pay 10 times as much for some fancy label which provides me with the same NPK and micro nutrients as miracle grow does but for half the money. My plants have been flourishing since i repotted them.

Here's some pics of the SSH X C99/CHEMDAWG. These pictures are a few weeks old will be back tomorrow with fresh ones. Today she's currently 54 days into flower.
