I have a Fridgidaire from that period mentioned. Where there some made by that other company mentioned and some made by Frigidaire, or where they all made by that other company? How could you tell? I can see no marking from that other company anywhere obvious but I could be wrong.

You wouldn't see any markings. Standard practice. Many things come from one big factory, where they build things to several marketer's specs. Or, they put different marketers' names on the item they make, sometimes making superficial changes.

http://www.amazon.com/SE-Step-Speed...79113539&sr=8-1&keywords=fan+speed+controller

Also, remember the dog food recall? Many brands came from 1 factory using the poisonous ingredient.
Good luck. -granger

shady fucks! :D well, so how do I know if my dehumidifier is on the list or not for sure?
It was purchased on Amazon, and has seen extensive use for over a year. It smells a little weird at times (not smokey, more like a decaying or swampy smell) and sounds funny once in a while and gives off a lot of heat. But seems to work well besides that.

Hey Granger, how much ya pay? I see both the 50 and 70 pint on Amazon for 40 bucks less.
Been looking at getting the 70 myself.

With coupon code, I paid 256 something, free shipping. Checked Amazon, and ABC was cheaper at the time I ordered. If you have Amazon Prime, you'd be better off getting it there and saving 27 bucks. If you don't have prime, looks like ABC is a better deal.

I'm not here to find the best deal of the day. I linked to a Co. that I've had good luck with in the past. -granger

I found out from an email from Amazon that a Soleus dehumidifier I bought in 2006 was eligible for a refund due to the recall. I used that Soleus for several years before it crapped out. Overheated and slightly melted the plastic cover. I called the number to request my refund and was informed that they would send out a kit to mail back my Soleus. I told them that I already threw the Soleus out but could provide an invoice to prove that I bought it from Amazon (all my Amazon purchases can be retrieved on their website- a pleasant surprise!) Now I'm waiting to hear about my refund. $170 that I had long written off.
