What do you guys use to get the end product out of the collection pot?

depends on the oil...

Hemostats clamped on a razor blade is my favorite for tough to remove oils like shatter and super sticky un-purged. Or a firm thick SS pie server for really fast removal of the bottom plate oil. Those x an adjustable temperature heat gun, you cant lose. I dont heat the oil I heat the tools then scrape.

It is extremely hard to find some things in Canada for some reason. I have one on order but wondered if there is another method that might have the tools more easily available just in case.

Hey, what's up rather than start a whole new thread I thought I'd just ask here... Does anyone know where I can get replacement gaskets for my closed system? I have a Bhogart but I'm pretty sure it uses the same gaskets as the terpinator just different sizes. I'm looking for a over the counter solution.... I was thinking autoparts store, washer/drier store... something along those lines...Anyone? Thanks!

Sneaky,

Now with that sweet setup all you need is a good camera, lol ;)

Respectfully,

FE

your right, i think it was someone in avanish miles underground bunker thread that said it best, "$100,000 setup, $2 camera" i have potatos with as much resolution as my phone.

Anyone have any recommendations for a mid range, easy to use camera? i was looking at this one, only thing i dont like is its got gps tagging :( http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/coolpix/s/s9500/

like hashman said, glacier or amazon, although some places may have similar sized gaskets the odds that theyll have viton or n-buna arent very likely. brewers hardware is a great place to get reasonably priced gaskets. order a few extras so you always have the machine operable and replace the spares as needed. just make sure its the same kind of gasket, terpenators use n-buna or viton sanitary triclamp gaskets.

FE, Durden- are you guys using the Wyatt soup pot to keep your collection chamber from icing up? Or are you just keeping it in a bucket of tap water? No bath at all? What is it?

Bhogart isn't responding to texts/phone calls right now.. got me kind of miffed. I can't do any processing until I get this new gasket. Hopefully glacier tanks ships fast. Thanks, HM

My Nikon Coolpix did a fine enough job to convince me that digital was a good thing and to get a D-80 Nikon, which has been wonderful.

I've used a SLR camera too long to ever be satisfied with anything else, but my daughter continues to use the Coolpix, and loves it. Nikon makes a wide range of good stuff, it just depends on your needs and pocket book.

I ordered some black 12" Buna-N triclamp gaskets for the base of my extractor (I have the 5lb unit) for $25 bucks apiece, yowser. I checked back this evening and my order had already been shipped out, same day. Not bad. ;) Thanks for the help Gray Wolf, Hash Man, Sneaky-Sneaky.

Wow, Glacier Tanks... They have practically everything you'd need to build your own extractor...eye opening. I'm going to get some of those 36" sanitary spools next and some clamps, so that I can pack the tube while I'm recovering on the first one.

Also, I got a text back from Bhogart... The man is obviously slammed with work and is trying his best, so no hard feelings..

i don't unless we are running budget material, but then we won't run dry ice either.

it is easier to pour off everything if you leave in inch or two of butane.

scraping out your oil just leaves more chance of your product waxing, clouding, etc.

I ran a 12 can case the first time and a 72 can long case the second time. One can was empty, do it was 71 cans.

Green dot, I got some coming up for you....

Sneaky, yea coolpix cameras are good. Cheaper than an SLR and wont be too pissed if it gets BHO all over it. Im using an old 16 megapixel one thats covered in oil, lol. Yea that was Avinash with the huge warehouse and a shitty throw away phone camera, lol.

I do have the wyott on hand. if Im doing a cold run I dont turn it on and just use it with cold water...
Durden makes a good point about the clouding. Although its not hard to clear it up if it does cloud, if you are doing a high volume production and dont want to slow down, I can see pouring butane, if you can do it safely.

The wyott is such a pain to control temp wise even when hooked up to a thermostat. I just spent too much time adjusting it depending on what part of the process I'm in.

We pour out our butane outside into a large pot with hot water. When winter comes, we will set up a custom fume hood inside.

Unfortunately in cali you can be prosecuted to the same degree as a meth cooker :-\

Im leaning towards the controllers posted earlier in this thread for controlling collection temperatures. I got the wyott when I was gathering my terp parts and agree its hard to keep the temp right without constant attention. Infact I overheated some stuff the other day and got some transparent black shatter...

wouldn't using bottom heat sorta not accomplish anything close to the wyott? you get more surface area... or were talking about putting one of those mats under a pot of water?

on a different topic, finally put back together our original g5 and it isn't leaking. it is super easy to take the top end and aluminum coolers off. soaked a lot of stuff and found some gunk on the intake side. probably from when i first started and left 2 and 4 open too long.

so there is a somewhat cheaper method of replacing gaskets/seals when the time comes.
go here: http://www.centurytool.net/Appion_G5_Twin_s/16907.htm and order (1) ktg515 $66.40, (2) kt1010 $23.81 each, and (1) ktg535 $49.78. so 163.80 plus shipping
