Space Buckets, 130w CFL + 6x3w LED. SpaceJill, LSD and Gigabud!

Howdy!

I'm starting my fourth grow using Space Buckets, they're stacked 5gal buckets with CFL and LED.

I built them about a year ago and made a website with a DIY guide to spread the design (hope its ok to link there!). The buckets look like this:

I'm growing SpaceJill, LSD and Gigabud this time, I'll update frequently with their progress! Here is the LSD:

Thanks! I finally installed my LEDs today, they're 3x3w spotlights. Thats 27w of side lighting, plus the top with about 140w of CFL.

Pretty cool man, have you harvested from these before? If so, what is your yield?

Yep! I've harvested eight buckets plants in the past year and a half. Usual yield is about 20 grams with a great density. Other bucket users have pulled over an ounce per bucket, it varies to your lighting setup.

Hope you like the plants. They're vegging in a Space Bucket with 140w CFL and 27w LED, I'll move them soon to their separate buckets.

White stuff is Diatomaceous Earth, training starts soon. I'll top the SpaceJill and LST the Gigabud and LSD. Supercropping is in order too.

Just a note of kudos for your design and growing community.

Spent some time browsing your Reddit. Come a long way since my first visit. SAG pulling 26g on 56 watts of hacked warm white household LEDs in a single bucket is a game changer.

Thanks man! SAGs work is awesome, game changer indeed.

I've just ordered some 10w LED modules on Amazon, its definitely the way to go. More and more bucket users are harvesting 1oz or more per plant

10 watt or 100?

Under driving for longevity at =< 70% is interesting. As low as 35%! Hummm...

Now I got to bone up on the subject and check my resistor stash. Should be fun.

I've got some 10w modules for now, I intend to use them as side lighting on a bucket spacer. IIRC SAG uses 3w, 10w and 100w modules, with some variations in between.

Hope you build a bucket! They're a lot of fun.

Been reading pages of SAGs material for days now. Most interesting.

Build a Bucket? Got everything but the LED units. Local stores don't carry any ( poor backwoods area ). Might just have to drain my PayPal account for some direct imports.

This is the LSD, I added a 27w LED spacer to raise the CFL bulbs.

Been pounding the web pavement for everything I can find on LEDs. My how things have changed in the last several years!

Working to wrap my head around lower power factors and nm/kelvin/lux flux for 10 and 20 watt SMD emitters, rather than hacking household type bulbs or soldering up a bunch of beads. Lots of fun.
