I think this thread can come in very handy for a lot of us. If we knew of some sort of infestation from where our mites came from, we can stay away from those places or products until the problems are fixed. Maybe it will help growers out! I personally haven't had mites in a long time but if anyone does and knows how they got them, please state it in here to help us all out. Thanks in advance!

Here's an example since i have not seen any yet:

I bought a bag of (INSERT BRAND NAME) soil in (MAYBE INSERT STATE) in the month of (INSERT MONTH) and it was infested with (INSERT MITE). I just want you guys to be aware to stay away from this brand in my area for a little while just in case.

or

I was at (INSERT DISPENSARY) and they were infested with (INSERT MITE) in the month of (INSERT MONTH). Be careful going to this place for a little while.

Sounds pretty simple to me!

This sounds like a really good idea... I've had a couple small infestations for the last year or so. I think I got them from a bag of soil that I bought from a local shop wich is closed now... Now I've also got another problem as I used some coco mix that I had still sealed in the bag that I had sitting around for a couple months... I noticed that my seedlings are lookn really sick and after further looking there are tiny white colored bugs in the coco mix... It's just nev ending... Sorry don't mean to stear this off topic but it is a good idea like I said ...

You are on topic but you are forgetting to tell us what brand soil was it and what brand coco was infested. If you tell us you got mites in a bag of something, it doesn't help us unless you let us know everything about it.

Mites commonly "hitch a ride" on other animals, Pest ( ie. Fungus gnats ), and clothing. not very many people wear lab suits in there grow room but using this method will lessen the chance of these guys hitching a ride into your area. also these guys LOVE carpet, if your room is located in an area with carpet i can almost guarantee they are living there. most of the times i have contracted them though have been through clone exchanges with buddies and dispensaries.

my dog has Definitely been the culprit before. She loves to help me defoliate in the veg room though so i still allow her in. i dont mind fighting these fuckers honestly, im getting my degree in Horticulture with an entomology minor so its good practice for the future.

IDK, mine all said Made In China.

In all serious, I blame the cat or dog. Grow is now out in the barn so hopefully I won't see anymore.

With compost and coco there is such variation between batches that any warning might only apply to specific lots , the large brands of compost have been different every batch and every year in the same packageing.

I open a bag out in the greenhouse , moisten and cover with clear plastic , check what comes crawling out after a week , half have something in there and price is no garantee , if i find a good batch i go back and buy that pallet.

If you have a legitimate problem say it was toms and get at least a refund , if more folk complained they would up their standards but most just curse them and switch to a competitors product , which is just as likely to be shite.

Have twice traced mites back to local garden centres/plant nurseries , regal pells and cactii , both heavily infested from places where most of their stock was covered on close inspection , and the managers showed little interest when pointed out to them.

If you look at carpet vacuumings under a microscope you would not want them in the house let alone a growroom , a whole creepy seething ecosystem of many species eating skin flakes and their predators.

The most common cause I have seen except contaminated clones is not taking care enough when traveling from one indoor to another or from an outdoor to an indie. I think you need a shower and a change of close between each stop. IMHO of course.

Misunderstood man sorry, it is hard for those who keep their own genetics to name specific places they received mites, good idea bro I just didn't get it.

I got a clone through a friend that supposadly got it from a local club and I ended up with mites. My second outbreak was when I used an air filter that was used in the same grow over a year previously. I assumed there would not be anything alive still due to starvation but obviously not.

How is this supposed to helP us if we dont have the name of the club? Not one member here has given us anything. Theres no way a mite was hiding in your filter for a year. Maybe 6 weeks but not a year.

Its like you are telling us that you got herpes from some girl but wont tell us who the girl was.

Hey, it helped me! I laughed my ass off.

Clone from a MMJ dispensary. I learned a lesson. Spray the clones down until dripping good or dip them in some sort of anti Borg solution.
