My camera battery was losing its charge (and I couldn't locate the charger) so I only was able to get a couple of pics. Here they are - taken at harvest - Exactly at 13 weeks. A couple of days before, I had lopped off the topmost portion of the kola due to a proliferation of nanners - so, she was a bit shorter at the time the picture was taken. Beautiful plant! Definitely hope to try her (or maybe GT and/or Zamaldelica) when my summer sabbatical ends.

Hey mayan, great job on the Malawi. I love the way the buds look. What kind of smell is she putting off? After a nice cure lets us know how she smokes. Looking forward to your summer grow also.

I started 2 Malawi seeds late last year, 1 died or got ate early (can't remember right now) and the other turned out to be a female. Put her out later in the season so she didn't get big maybe a 1 1/2 ft tall. Bred her to make a new cross and pulled her when the seeds were mature due to the weather so she was early with only like 9 or so weeks flowering done. What I got to sample of it was very nice smoke and taste wise to be early, it was something I wanted to really try again but taken to maturity next time. Glad I picked these up from Ace and still have some for future use 1 day can't wait. Take care 1

gorgeous. the malawi seems relatively dense for a 13 week tropical sativa. if you're considering running ZD, DO IT, you will not be disappointed. just be prepared that some phenos may go even longer than your malawi did.

Hi Mayan new here but loving the Malawi threds, I lived in Malawi and Zambia for ten years so I appreciat the different Malawi types. I have just got Aces Malawi, Zamal and Golden tiger fems I cant wait to grow them in the process of moving house at the moment so it has to wait. If mine look half as good as yours I will be rapt, its ages since I tripped on grass these strains will do it for sure. Tangwena

That's very interesting...I always kinda lived in dread of them and what you are saying is quite comforting. Not to go TOO far afield but a couple of questions for you (or whoever)..

are "nanners" ever viable - in other words, if you see them early -say, in the sixth week of a 14 week flowering plant - might such an "early" nanner inseminate a female flower?

do single "nanners" hold pollen and -if so- is it typically less than the iconic balls on a stalk that are on prototypical male plants?

I have to say, the question of when to harvest is one of the hardest aspects of the process - at least for me. Being able to judge the different types of "high" and "potency" as things progress from week to week seems to be so subjective. I'm not much of an "amber" guy - and generally don't favor narcoleptic couch lock. At the same time, I like my the high to "have legs" and some "gravitas." I'm very interested in learning that a week could have that dramatic a difference. I guess what I need to do is to grow three or four clones of the same plant and take 'em at different times to try to experience the difference.

You should just harvest half your plant with no amber(being malawi, it will still have 'legs') and half with a decent ambering.

Amazing plant. how did the final product end up being like?
