Whitaker Blues - One Seeded Bud (nice, but how?)

Hi,

I started 4 WB seeds. 2 were male. The other 2 are 1 week from finishing. They were both very healthy throughout the grow & smell great. I noticed a very solid bud at the bottom of one plant. It happened to be filled with 11 seeds.
I am wondering if this is spontaneous (I've read how plants sometimes throw seeds at the end), or if it might be from one of the males. This being my first grow, I'm unsure. I pulled the males in the second week of flowering. I did not notice pollen. Whatever the case, I feel lucky right now, and happy that this happened. One perfect seed filled bud.
Here are some pics because posts without them are no fun.

Interesting that just one bud had seeds. Possible you had a hermaphrodite pod on your plant? If the seeds were caused by the 2 males you pulled, I'd there would be seeds sprinkled around the plant and not so localized.

Yea, some females will throw a male flower or two out towards the end of flowering in an attempt to produce seeds. I pull my males as soon as there is no doubt about them, even when kept for breeding purposes they get pulled and brought to a different room. It may be possible some stray pollen came from your males before you pulled them..........
Now for the bad news..............(as it sounds like you want some seeds). I think these seeds are from a female trying to self-pollinate. The reason I say that, is because the seeds don't look mature, which means probably not from your males which you pulled AND it means the seeds will most likely not be viable as they are still immature and green.

Thanks to both of you for the good information.
Heh... Yeah, I did end up becoming excited, digging them out & I had the same thought they might not be viable. Turns out that it is one entire skinny lower branch (3 buds total) that have seeds. I'm not touching anything else until harvest, or the seeds fall down.
It is possible that I missed a hermaphrodite. I tried to keep an eye out for banana-looking things, but didn't find any. Of course, things have multiplied quickly, which increases risk of missing something. Whatever happens, these first plants have exceeded my expectations ( except for a tiny little Northern Lights plant that looked sick from the start).
In 3 months, I learned more practical knowledge than 90% of classes in college gave me.

Nothing beats learning from personal experience. Like all of us, you'll dial in your grow with lessons learned. Keep reading and researching to learn from other grows too.

Have a good grow
