thanks for that explanation, Grey Wolf. I was trying to boil water at room temp with my vac and it worked great and, then I purged the chamber and tried again unsuccessfully until I refilled the mason jar with new water. Now I know why :)

i love these ovens!! across international put a Hg In guage in mine so it makes things a lot simpler to read. currently have a run of medicinal topical/edible oil in there, got the internal timer set for 8 hours @ 105. the AI 1.9 made so much difference from vac pot purging wow!

what do you have your ovens settings at? im trying to dial mine in, and on a trial run with new settings i programmed it for 110, with a 1.5˚ temp dif alarm, and its currently at 140 lol. i have the P set to 90, D is 1200, I is 300. I had the DT set for 480 and it slowly crawled up like normally at about 107.1 the SV screen cut off and didnt show temp and it started falling, so i cut the oven off, changed no settings and it ran all the way up to 140. come tuesday me and a technician are gonna have to have a talk.

with the factory settings it went haywire and im trying to get it co climb about .1˚ per min but cant get it to do so. i think relocating the heat sensor might be in order.

thanks!

You are supposed to turn it on with the door open and set the temp. Then wait until the temp is stable, then start to vac. Temp changes can seem random too but AI says its because the oven has a coil on the bottom and on the right side, so all the temp jumping is because it takes awhile for each side to reach the same temp.

thanks, the manual had a section about temp fluctuations when opening the door up then revacuuming it, ill reread it before i act like i know what it means lol, at this moment im staring at the oven in the corner of the living room and its got about a 1˚ temp fluctuation, as gray wolf said, somebody put a slab of marble in the center rack to help keep a constant temp i think im going to try that out. they also said something about moving the temp sensor to the center rack so you can get an accurate temp at the place where your extracts will be. thanks again, hoping it randomly doesnt jump that much again, never seen it do that before it was crazy, went from past 110, the alarm kicked it off at 115 and it was still so hot it went to 140 before it started to cool.

There is a lot of inertia in the heating systems and oven shell, so one way to not wildly overshoot on start up, is to not set the temperature any higher than 5F above actual temperature and let it stabilize before ramping up the next five degrees.

IE: Start at 80F and heat up to 115F, by setting the controller at 85F and waiting until the oven stabilizes at 100F and then setting the controller at 105F until it stabilizes at 115F, and then setting the controller at 115F.

^i do that gray wolf

Also another tip would be to get a basic digital thermometer and set it on the dead center of the rack (where your patty would be) and that will read out the actual temp at that spot. Compare and contrast your AI reading to the thermometer reading to get a better idea of what is going on without trying to reconfigure the oven settings and making a giant mess.

For instance, my oven will read 118F and it will be 112f in the center after about 30 minutes of reading.

so its perfect

Really? The whole time?

I guess I need to remove more ethanol before I go into the oven then, or have a thinner puddle, cause when I go to full vac from the jump, it bubbles and bumps so much it seems to wax itself up.

I personally check out my system with a Yellow Jacket 69075, if you've got the coin, it's highly recommended.

I have an Across International 0.9 oven and just order a Yellow Jacket 93600 7 CFM vacuum pump. I want to know whats the best 3/8" hose to hook up to both. I would prefer it be clear. And needs to handle 29.9 HG and high temperatures, obviously.

Thank you!
