Making the most out of your plants

Howdy folks :tiphat:

Whilst I am not currently growing, I have had a few thoughts bouncing round my head of the best ways to make the most out of your girls.

Firstly, has anyone tried smoking dried leaf? As a tobacco smoker, I'm currently very interested in finding some kind of alternative filler for my spliffs to help me cut back and ultimately quit. I've seen at least one thread of someone rolling a cannabis-leaf wrap, so has anyone gone a step further and put it into their joints? I imagine that, shredded dried and cured, it could be a nice smoke.

Secondly, how do people usually go about their harvests? Previously I have tried using leaves and stems to make really tiny amounts of iso-hash-oil rather than simply throwing them out. Since then I've had the chance to smoke some wonderful Charas which got me thinking. Could it be a good idea to try rubbing your plants before drying to produce your own Charas? Could the remains then be cured and smoked? If not, would they still make a good base material for hash-oil making?

Just some thoughts I had bouncing around that I thought I'd share!

Peace :ying:

I've never liked the smoke from burning leaves, but they do have some potency, as I found when trying some in the vape, so if you like the smoke.. go for it. They should be better for health than smoking processed tabacco anyway.

I usually keep the leaves in the freezer for making bubble hash when I got enaugh of them, charas is worth to do only when you have entire fields of resin filled plants, really not worth indoor. The closest I get to making charas is smoking the scissors hash that i gather during trimming. You can make bubblehash or oil from the trim, you just need to gather enaugh material to make it worth the time. That usually means keeping the trim from multiple runs and running it all at once after some grows.

Dried leaves are very harsh on the lungs. I wouldn't smoke too much of it. Smoking a joint with a bit of tobacco in it seems like a better idea. Every time you want a cigarette just smoke a joint. You can probably rub the crap out of a pound of weed and only get a couple grams of charas lol. Charas and dead skin cells. Very bad idea IMO. You'd be far better off making hash or better yet wax.

Cannabis helped me quit tobacco but not smoking it just eating it and I took that Zyban and it really did work. I made some of the strongest oil's ,chocolates, tinctures I have ever made just to knock me out for approx. 3 dayz while things were hard but this worked like a charm and I'm so glad I was able to quit once and for all. Good luck on this one headband 707:biggrin:

Cheers for the feedback guys! I think I'll have to agree and say Charas is out of the question. I guess I will be sticking to oil making in the future! Certainly enough room for improvement there to keep me busy for many grows.

@Daima - That was pretty much what I was doing! It's pretty rare to smoke pure weed in the UK, almost always have tobacco in there to. The problem is that I am trying to quit tobacco all together after doing some research into it's effects and contents. It's frickin' nasty stuff when you get down to it :scripture:

Iunno, it's a tough one. Obviously best way would be to quit smoking all together for a few weeks, it's just so damn nice haha. I really enjoy sitting down and smoking on something for 20 minutes or so whilst I read a book. Sadly, my lungs don't like it so much :(

If you're making ISO hash and it is coming out oily chances are you need a higher % of alcohol. If I don't use 91% or more I too get oily crap, that is hard to work with IMO.
