12ft x 26ft x 8ft want maximum yield.

What design would you go with for maximum yield? My buddy pulls 14-15 lbs every run using soil beds, adjustawings, 8 1000w lights in a similar size space. Should I copy his setup or can you recommend different hoods, setup etc. Thanks.

hell yes you should ,that way if you have problems he can help ,dont reinvent the wheel ,just make it spin faster !good luck and get started yesterday ,run the same strain too!

Probably a good idea. Just thought i might be able to outdo him with some gavita 1000w's or some blockbusters.

He does 2 6ft wide beds about 20 and 25ft long. Mine will have to be about 5.5ft so I can have a 1 ft wide walkway in between them to water etc.

Setting up a room now that is exactly the same size. Here is what am rolling with.
8-vertizontal hoods( they cover 5x5 easy and with cross lighting more like 6x6)
8-horti eye 1000's hps
8-phantom ballasts switchable/dimmable
1-aura 3ton mini split cooling only(2100 out the door)
6 plants per light vegged 6 weeks(topping/super cropping)+2 weeks for rooting
48 flowering, 48 vegging and 2 moms(98 total and under the fed limit of 99)
Sealed, co2, loose rockwool(ala Dynamite's style)
This method is tried and true. 60 day cycles. 1.5 to 1.8 lb every time with a low yielding og.
In soil without co2 and I would have to take it 70+ days.

And if yield is your main concern just rock blue dream. 2.5+ when dialed.
In this size room you could cram as many as 12 lights and multiple points of light along with cross lighting would crush it too, but then your looking at more hoods, bulbs, ballasts, and a second mini split. Good luck

Blue dream did good for me. My best was a room half sour d and half cheese. The way peoople do it here is cramming a ton of plants per light and just having tops everywhere. Im talking like 32-40 plants per light. In not doing a veg room, all for flowering. No air conditioning necessary, another advantage of living in Humboldt.

Impossible to tell you what to do.

Depends on how much effort, and money, you want to put into it really. You could certainly yield more day-for-day with an Undercurrent system and a perfectly controlled environment. But just because you "can" harvest more does not mean that you will. There is a learning curve with indoor gardening and soil will really help you focus on the important stuff (like heat and humidity).

With consideration to all those lights, you both should consider going fully enclosed and enriching with CO2 to really maximize the efficiency of the watts burned. A dialed-in enriched environment could double the harvest weights. It's an investment to add CO2, air conditioning, and independent ventilation (for the lights) and filtration (for the smell/mold) systems, but another $2-3K could pay for itself 10 times over on the first grow. Worth thinking about at least.

I agree, if you do a CGE room you can mimic your buddies room in setup, with the benefits of co2; I'd go Gavita over the wings, par ratings on gravitas rock. They penetrate canopy well. Less airy popcorn on the bottom buds.
