Looking to replace my co2 generator...

So I have a 2008 model Green Air Products CD18 13,200 BTU generator that has served me very well for a little over five years without any problems whatsoever. I haven't even had to clean it. The only thing I don't like is the pilot light. During the dark period, it's still burning, producing heat and wasting propane. Does anyone know if there is a non water-cooled co2 burner that does not have a pilot light? I know the hydro-gen (really a tankless water heater) has the electronic igniter but i don't know if you can use it without pumping water through it. Anyone?

You can get a water valve solenoid with the hydro-gen that will turn on the water while the generator is running, it's a run to waste set-up.

You can also purchase a portable hot water camp generator at camping world for a fraction of what the ass hats at water cooled are selling for!

I think I bought a 1/4hp flojet. You need 3/4" garden hose to go with it. I spent $60 on the high temp stuff to find out the genny never runs long enough to really be concerned. The marey is $120 vs. $300 for a hydrogen, and they're the exact same thing. EXACT SAME THING. The hydrogen has been modified to have a cord instead of batteries, and some other unnecessary things you can do on your own if you want.

Just type in marey water heater on ebay, and pick the cheapest one. Mine is 36k btu, more than enough for my space.

The igniter is activated by water pressure... So you do need water... Being why I bought a flojet pump and hose. A 500gph pump isn't gonna do it, you need tap pressure or better. The pump or solenoid is plugged into the CO2 controller. Flow is controlled based on CO2 levels.

looking at flojets and they have 1 rated @45psi
is that on par with tap pressure,or... what pressure is needed

so your saying the amount of time(2-3min) the heater is running doesn't warrant buying a hi temp hose

i could use that for water supply and dump the water back into it

Thanks Bobblehead...I need 2 CO2 gens, so this helps the wallet a lot. I would run tap water to the burners. To control CO2 levels, would I sue a CO2 monitor/controller to turn power on/off to the burners?

You would use a controller to turn power on/off to a solenoid that controls water flow.

if you plan to use tap water be aware that if there is a pilot or fuel issue the water will flow through the cold genny all day long if connected to a sniffer
what Im trying to communicate here is that these units are not the best for a unattended or poorly managed grow

Did my latest WC co2 with a 100 dollar ebay burner and a 60 dollar harbor freight pump. Been working like a champ for a year., 30 gallon rez no chiller.

does the tankless water heater run cooler compared to a reg. co2 gas gen?
if so is it a big difference?

if i get tankless water heater do I have to run the pump drain to waste
I'm using a 32gallon brute trash can for water res. and wondering if I can pump it back to into the 32gal res?
I'm looking a 42,000btu tankless unit
and think it will run about 2 minutes when its cycled on to reach 900-1000ppm. not sure how often it would cycle tho.
