Ca/Mg Supplement w/no N?

Is there a cal-mag product that doesnt contain any other nutrients, specifically N?

I have "soft" tap water (50 ppm) and I add cal-mag first to get it to around 150 ppm. I find that the Ca buffers the nutrients and helps with wild pH swings. .

I'd like to be able to control the NPK with my base and supplements if needed. I am unable to cut out N completely as I need the cal-mag to treat my tap water.

A Ca supplement by itself would be even better as the nutrients I use contain sufficient Mg.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I went to the GH website and it looks like the Ca is derived from dolomite lime. I have a ton of this stuff left from when I used it as a soil amendment.

I wonder how it would work if I just added the powdered lime to the water. That is pretty much as close to just Ca as I can think of.

Looks like some experimenting is in order. I am almost of of botinicare's cal-mag plus. I'll check out the GO line when I go to the store.

thanks again.

Hey Ron I think it would be better to top dress with the powdered lime. I think it would be more effective that way.

gypsum

oyster shell

earth organic oily cann

I think age old has a Ca solution

botanicare use to, but I think it got dropped from low sales, think it was called calplex. I actually used it once for organic grow and had excellent results, as my nute had no Ca at all.

are you in any peat / coco media? I would just honestly top dress the dolomite.. am doing it with coco ,and seeing good results..

I am using coco for the first time currently. I had been using the cal-mag in my tap water to add some buffering capability. My water reads 50 ppm so it doesnt really contain many minerals.

I was operating under the assumption that without Ca as a buffer, the acidic nutrient solution would dramatically drop the pH and would be more difficult to get it to a stable level.

I use dynagro nutrients so I am not growing organically.

I really have to get a quality pH meter. The Hanna one I bought is so unreliable I have been using the drops lately. The pH thing was never a huge factor for me in soil but I want to stay on top of it with the coco.

thanks
