Thanks fellas :) I do try my best. Still learning as I go along.
I have a few tips and tricks that I have picked up along the way that I will share with you all later on... after the grow is complete. Even if it just helps out one person - I will be happy.

Day 104 (Day 66 Flower)‏

Last shot of them. 1 day prior to harvest.

After the end of today's lighting period.
They will be thrown into complete darkness until the chop - I'll try to give them 24 hours darkness before harvesting. 48 hours would be better but I don't have the luxury of harvesting on a work day.

The darkness will help them to squeeze out any last minute trichs.

Saving the best pix for last.... can't spoil the fun just yet hahaha

P.S The Doctor smells like DURIAN it stinks!. The white widows smell skunky almost diesel like. I rubbed on one of the petioles before and smelt my fingers and it
smelt very unique!

HARVEST DAY

HARVEST DAY

Day 106 (Day 67 Flower)

The time has come my brothers and sisters. It's the big harvest day.

It's been one hell of a day.... hung over harvesting is not fun kids.
Trimming is also a lot harder than I thought it would be...
On top of all that, I almost got busted today too - lucky I was able to cover it up at the right time.

I did manage to take a couple of pix before I had to pack it all up.

The white widows stayed relatively green and didn't yellow much at all... maybe next time I will defoliate it more near the end stage.

Midget widow - it's very hard to get honest photos of the ladies since they shine so much with flash and without flash I can't capture the finer details.

Taller widow (the second pic is a 17 inch cola) :

More pix to come after they dry and get their final weight worked out.

It was from the smell - chopping and trimming stunk the house out and my room-mates were saying that there's a strange smell coming from my room LOL

I have finally finished trimming up all the buds and they're hanging out to dry.

Just a few after thoughts on the grow. Reflecting and sharing some ideas and some tips and tricks I have picked up along the way for this grow. If it helps anyone out I'll be quite happy.

Synthesis' Growing Tips and Tricks

* During the seedling stage - you can make use of wet/dry watering to encourage faster root establishment. Water and then allow the roots to almost dry out before rewatering. This makes the roots grow out in search of more water. The seedling phase is devoted to root establishment.

* Use a fan from early veg stage to strengthen your plants' stems.

* If you're growing in soil or soil less mixes. Make use of mycorrhizae fungi and innoculate your plants at an early stage (seedling or early veg) the sooner they form symbiosis with your plants the better your plants will do over the duration of your grow. Most are mixes these days and include other great beneficial bacteria to assist your plants root zone.

* Train your plants from an early age. Work out what effective lighting area you have to play with and induce flowering when they're about half the size of optimum height for indicas and approximately 1/3 of optimum height for sativas.

* If you intend to do any forms of training, whether LST or Fimming/Topping - make use of soluble silica (I highly recommend Budlink silica) it will really strengthen up your stems, improve over all plant health and helps to add bulk to your flowers.

* Use zip ties to brace branches to support each other. This saves you from using stakes which could otherwise damage your roots. For an example of this you can see it utilized previous in this thread.

* Topping/Fimming your plants can really help keep your canopy level and grow more bushy as opposed to just higher. This helps make better use of lower watttage lighting set ups where light penetration is limited.

* Use a bit of co2 during late veg and early flowering for explosive growth.

* There are 2 distinct phases during flowering that will really benefit from extra calmag (calcium, magnesium) and they are; the switchover stretch phase (day 1 of 12/12 and until pre flowering phase) and the bud swelling phase (when they start packing on the majority of their weight) Feeding them extra calmag during these times will promote big and healthy flowers.

* Roots are temperature sensitive. Not too hot and not too cold or the plants may into shock. I found 20 to 24 degrees celsius max is best. *Conversion: 68 to 75 degrees fahrenheit*

* Run a flush routine at the end of your grow to get all the accumulated ferts/salts flushed out. This can help to improve the flavour of your smoke. If you're growing organic though, a flush isn't entirely necessary.

Hope that helps :dance013:

Dry yeild and weight!

Dry yeild and weight!

Thanks for your patience folks. The day has finally come to weigh the buds as they have lost their moisture and are ready for the curing process.

Trimmed and dry weight:

picture.php

The Doctor: 110 grams
White Widow (Taller): 106 grams
White Widow (Midget): 80 grams

Total weight: 296 grams / 10.38 oz

What an awesome result for a first run :dance013: far exceeded my expectations in all regards. I was thinking I would pull around 5 oz dry but this is effectively double what I forecasted.

Rockin! I will smoke a quick sample and give a proper smoke report after a cure.

Right on mate. That's a nice haul indeed. Should keep you going for a little while. Have you had a sample to test for potency?

So any plans for future grows/genetics?

Also, how did your Doctor smell before the chop? My lil one is by far the least smelly, and has the least impressive smell.

Cheers mate. Yeah in the last pic they're in 5kg bucket containers so it doesn't look like there's much buds but the haul was rad!

Yeah I've smoked a bit out of each to get a sense of what they're like. After the cure, it should add a bit more flavour into the product but it's good at the moment as it is.

The white widow is a bit of a creeper. I take one big cone and feel mellow... but when it truly kicks in it's shreds me to pieces hahaha. Very potent and gets me ripped.

The doctor is superb. It's a very social smoke - produces minimal anxiety and gives me a feeling of being stoned yet also has a great relaxing cerebral sensation as well and smoking it makes my short term memory disappear lol. Odour wise it smells like a sweet mango/durian (if you know what that durian smells like, it's very skunky but unique smelling)

The next run I will do the Super Bud and Purple Maroc since they got left out in this run. I'm chasing for a variety of buds so I don't get too bored :)

Here we are folks... dried nug porn for you guys to enjoy!!

First up we have The Doctor. A fine specimen, she was great to grow and I found her very resistant to cold and pests. A heavy feeder during late flower. Her flowers are beautiful and pack an amazing punch for a smoke.

A great social buzz. Enough in the body to still be able to still function and do stuff, yet relaxing upon demand. The buzz lasts a fair while and I would deem it long lasting. Has some medicinal qualities also. When I smoke the doctor - all my worries seem to just fade away.

Smell wise - she smells like skunky durian. The bouquet improves during the cure and the great smells intensify further with time.

+ Easy to grow / heavy feeder late veg to flower.
+ Smells like durians (stinky)
+ Amazing potent smoke - long lasting
+ Improves appetite
+ Easy to sleep on
+ Stress relief

I'd recommend this strain from greenhouse seeds. Would grow it again in the future for sure.

The following plant is the midget widow. She was the smaller of the two girls but she exhibited super frostiness even from a very early age during flower.

She is much much frostier than her sister and I should have grown her a bit more during veg because she was clearly superior in all aspects (compared with her sister) other than her height.

EDIT ::
Upon further investigation into the heritage of the white widow I had grown from female seeds. I thought that I had found out that this plant is their Iced Widow but upon double checking
I found out that it really is their White Widow but the reason why I couldn't find it on their website is because it's now a discontinued line!!

Even trying to take a macro of her nug with any light would make it reflect so badly due to her trichs shimmering that I had to adjust the angle of the photo to be able to capture anything at all.

Her sister the taller widow.

This version of the widow by female seeds is excellent. The plants are productive even small and pack a great potent smoke.

I love smoking the white widow and playing games because I just get so immersed and lost in the world. Amazing feeling! This strain really is special. I would definately recommend this strain by female seeds and since they are now a discontinued line - be sure to pick up the remaining beans wherever you can!

+ Easy to grow
+ Productive even small
+ Great skunky smell
+ Potent smoke (somewhat of a creeper then BOOM)
