my first grow, 24 days into flower, everything is going great but today I've noticed some of the pistils are turning amber, closet grow under 300 watts of cfl's, very healthy plants, I defoliated last week to let some light in, are they browning too early ?

No.
Mine are 29 days old and some are turning red.
It happens sometimes and there is no loss or trouble.
Keep on keeping on.

I dont think its a problem but if u sprayed anything on them that will cause this to happen to. Just a heads up.

Is it affecting the buds closest to the fan?
Closest to the light?
Are you touching the buds for any reason?

Pistils are VERY delicate and sensitive. If you touch them, they'll go brown. Too much heat or wind can brown them, too.

Like others have said, if the plants look good otherwise, don't worry about it. You won't be able to tell any difference come harvest time when all (or most) of the pistils have turned color anyway.
