Have a look at your lecky bill, It will give you a KW/ph charge rate. Will you be using fans too?

If you really want to know, buy one of those power monitors, test all your equipment then do the math with the figure you've gleaned from your bill.

Good luck, stay safe.

Why HPS?

Why not CFL or LED?

CFLs give more usable light than HPS and are much cooler to run.

1200 watts of HPS @ 24/7 is gonna cost a shitload!!

My LED 240 watter jacks up the electric bill by about £15 per month...so I can only imagine what 1200 freakin watts is gonna cost you.

Holy shit!!!

If I just had to have HPS, I'd stick with only one 600 watter. That alone at 24/7 is gonna jack up the cost pretty hard.

Best of luck to ya!
Sending good grow karma to you in advance.:tiphat:

16p per kw/hour = 0.016p per watt, per hour.

Times that by your 600w lamp = 9.6p per hour.

Times that by 24hours = £2.30.

Remember you'll be running it at 12 hours per day in flower meaning £1.15 per day in 12/12.

My current girls go 56 days on 12/12, so 56 x £1.15 = £64.

This is far too much brain work for me today so you'll have to work out your veg time on 18/24 or 24/24 yourself but it's going to be less than £100 per run.

Most electricity companies do cheaper off peak rates so maybe check with them?

I signed up for this. It's simple to use and shows the cheapest rates for you and even sends an email if someone offers cheaper rates.

Edit;-Just noticed you're running 2 lamps so double the cost.

thanks harry, I was thinking the same, theres some cool looking 300 watt cfls complete with hoods online, so im thinking 4 of those gives me 1200 watts, i'm guessing that's not going to cost the same as 2 x 600 hps,????

Well.....hmmm...I may be wrong, but ain't a watt a watt no matter whether it's LED/CFL or HPS?

1200 watts at 24/7, according to Harry, is gonna run you about £200 per month whether it's CFL/HPS or LED.

Have you seen what Dr Bud Green Genes has produced with 500 watts of CFLs?

Have a look: https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=88449

Cheers!

thanks for the reply C.A PD, i'm running 300 watts of cfls at the moment, on 24 hour they were costing me £5.00 a week, so I figure £20.00 a week for 1200 watt of cfl, i can live with that

i have 5 feminised critical mass 3 weeks into flower tomorrow, they're looking great, i'll post some pics when i get a decent camera, maybe Friday, i think i'll go with this strain again, it's a very tough forgiving strain, i once dropped one while watering her n i just repotted her, she didn't even flinch, I've been told that autos don't yield great, not sure though, goodluck

Nah, the autos DON'T yield much---even with LST. Very sensitive & unforgiving fuckers, too. I've been growing LowRyders for the past 10 months...My next grow will be Spliff Seeds Jack F1 (haze) and some NYC Power Diesel. But I will also include some LowRyders to give me some smoke whilst waiting for those photos to finish.

The good thing about autos is that they ARE forgiving regarding the lighting. If you have to leave them in the dark once in awhile for longer than normal, they don't care. So when the photos are at 12/12, the autos will grow just fine---less yield than at 18/6 or 24/0, but still smokable, stonable buds.

Huzzah for indoor lighting!!!

She is pretty, dude!

You do know, of course, that she'd get bigger if she was in a bigger pot, yea? But if size doesn't matter, I am sure she'll make for some good smoke for ya. She looks happy.

Happy trails, bro. :peacock:

yeah i'll get bigger pots for the next grow, I wanted to keep em as small as possible, it's just a closet grow, they would have been taller but I lst'd the shit outa them, and I also defoliated them every 3 or 4 days, for the first grow i'm pretty pleased so far but bigger pots for sure when I set up the tent, goodluck.

NI must be the most watched place in the UK so I understand your concerns but are they going to think it more suspicious seeing it leaving your place at night than in the day?

Where do you plan to vent from?

Personally, if I was going to be paying for 1200watts of anything, I would go with the HPS, depending on the space and ability to get rid of the hot air. A watt is a watt, and 1200 watts of HPS is going to give you far better results than 1200watts of CFL, again depending on your ability to keep the enviroment under control with the heat the lamps bring.
Another thing to consider is that any HPS light, uses roughly 10% more than its rating to power the ballast, so a 600watt lamp actually uses roughly 660watts.

EDIT

I see it's a closet grow. What are the dimensions of the closet?
