Sub-lingual spray from shatter

Hey folks,

I have made tinctures over the years from a variety of alcohols etc., and I always start with buds and soak the shit out of them for eons. All good, but I have another idea.

Has anyone ever used bho wax or shatter as the starting concentrate to make a tincture or more specifically, a spray? I have .5 g soaking in 1 oz of Absolute vodka, but after 3 days and some mild heating, it seems that the wax is stuck to the bottom of the glass and I am not sure how much of the cannabinoids have been extracted. Should I let sit longer than 3 days? Is this a really dumb idea?

A pure gold spray under the tongue of 100% Durban Poison is the goal here.

Tinctures work better with more alcohol and less water. 190 proof grain alcohol works best. BHO should dissolve fully in Everclear 190.

I haven't tried making a sublingual spray. 190 proof might burn a little if you spray it under your tongue.

Winterize it first to remove the waxes that are getting stuck in your glass.

I will try more potent alcohol than 80 proof vodka to see how that works. I can always evaporate some off at the end to avoid burning.

I looked into winterizing and am not quite getting it. My end goal is spray and I don't mind if there is leftover wax in the bottom of the jar just as long as everything is extracted from the bho. This liquid will go into a spray atomizer and I will rinse and re-capture the bho if needed. I get 3 grams of bho for 100 at dispensaries here im Seattle and that seems like a good starting point for spray.

You shouldn't be extracting wax with 80 proof vodka.

We like to use QWET techniques to extract for ethanol tinctures and typically use 190 proof to minimize the water present and subsequent water soluble and chlorophyll pickup.

OK, it worked! I successfully dissolved 1 gram of Tahoe OG wax into 1 oz of Everclear in a spray bottle. Since strain specific wax is so cheap here, I don't need to use flowers as the starting material anymore. Now to titrate the dosage to figure out how many squirts for the effects I want...

We shall see if it can beat my wax pens, but should be better for travel.

How does it taste / feel when you spray it in your mouth? I have a few different batches of 190 proof tincture in dropper bottles. I thought they'd be too strong in terms of alcohol to drink directly. I never actually tried it to be honest. A dropper full in a shot of rum is nice, or a dropper full in any kind of drink.

I'll have to check out that Phish video this weekend. I've seen a couple of their concert videos, but I haven't seen them in person yet. I'm so excited about seeing Black Sabbath next week. I'll have some C99 tincture when I get to the show. I'll bring a few joints too just in case.

The trick is to remove enough alcohol, so that the oil is a greater part of the mix, so it is no longer 190 proof. About 80 to 120 proof is a pleasant range.

What Gray Wolf said. Once it is all absorbed, it helps a lot to evaporate off some of the alcohol a) so it doesn't burn, and b) so you don't muddy the high at all. You don't want to boil it all the way down to syrup if you want to use droppers or spray.

I have experimented with cinnamon and mint flavor as well, but prefer the raw weed taste and smell.

I usually spend at least a week of daily use with a new recipe like this to really get to know it and see if it is preferable to my wax pens, dab rig, eating oil, etc Last night it was kind of numbing with a clear head.

Not quite a syrup, but a "roily" alcohol.

Just barely thicker than the alcohol is the point where the concentration drops fast, but if you miss it and evaporate too long, you can always add some back in.

QWET makes a damn fine tincture, with good flavor, and we do evaporate away some of the alcohol to increase the potency.

We also make tincture by simply adding alcohol to a BHO extraction. You can also not remove all the alcohol after winterizing BHO, and make a tincture.

We add coconut oil to tie up the liver processing it, so that it leaves the cannabinoids in the system longer.

We add cinnamon leaf and bark to speed uptake and clear receptor sites.
