Sam_Skunkman's dry sift method

You should always press the kief the old timers in countries I visited never smoke unpressed kief. I have aged my pressed dry for 2 years see my pics. The purest #1 drysift smells peppery, without much ganga smell or taste, The smell and taste are in the #2 tumble. I gave you guys the screen sizes only 2 screens are needed. Freezing doesn't help it is to cold. If you think about the yield it takes a lot of kief to make 99%, 10% you need 1000 grams to make 100 grams. The only way I can make anything off the process is my "hash from trash" biz, folks give me their trim and I get half of what i make. I have very loyal friends who are not interested in any bubblebho bullcrap, they want the best. I have lost sleep the last couple nights trying to figure out, what to do, i want to tell folks how to do it but my word is my word. I have dropped so many hints that I already feel like I have said too much. Someone said they won't tell even if we figure it out, here is one more clue, if you figure it out you will know.

If you are trying to keep it secret.. you are walking a fine line here.. haha.

Webguy - not bad! You don't happen to have a microscope do you?

Probably some stalks in there.. but the color is damn close.

Nah I dont have one. I assume you just use another screen to remove stalks, theres zero leaf matter.

Plant matter is half the battle.

By agitating the material you are also without a doubt breaking up stalks into fragments upon fragments of stalks as well.

Keep in mind you are trying to keep a microscopic contaminant from being agitated enough to the point it breaks up.

I can guarantee there are lots of fragments in there, but that doesn't mean it's not quality sift. The issue is that when you go to 'card' it through a finer screen, a lot of those fragmented stalks will also find their way through as well.

If you only run it for a few minutes its all heads but suuuuper low yield, I can see it through a magnifying glass.

When the secret comes out it, I doubt very much that very many bho people will change methods. It takes a lot of trim to make very much 99% dry sift. I am really interested to see if DSW and I actually do the same process.

They won't change.

BUT.. I do think they will be running their trim through their screens at least once, and -then- doing their bho to get the rest should they choose.

People with rooms coming down, we all know they have plenty of trim. Just running through your trim once can yield ounces of full melt. I have personally seen/helped make a 4 oz batch of completely FMCD from ~36 plants under (6) 600w hps.

That is rare, though, lol.

I have a feeling we're not doing the same thing.. as you're already using a tumbler, right? Or is that just during winter?

I never use a tumbler of any type.. it's always the same method.

I only work on it the winter, and yes I tumble the trim to get the kief, then clean it up. You have to figure if you get 10% yield 1000 grams kief makes 100 grams of 99%.

I'll bet sales of microscopes will suddenly jump. One more clue, one screen is the same size as the tumbler screen to clean debris that might get in there . the other is finer, i only use one screen at a time.

Yeah, scope sales will jump, haha.

And - we're definitely doing it differently based on this post.

I am thinking of buying a scope so I can photo the dry sift before i press it. If i was closer I would meet up and compare methods.

You should def. get one. I use mine all the time.

It's cool to see how nice your products look, especially after you spend so much time growing them (if that's your thing) and taking care of them.

Getting it to this level is always appreciated more when you can kinda get a glimpse of what you've accomplished. Of course.. the melty goodness in your bowl does that, haha.

Yeah i'm not sure on the 'peppery' smell thing? I don't press my sift, though. It always smells identical to the plant it came from, just much, much stronger and purer.

Hi,

Really nice dry sieve DSW!!!
Could be that you leave your trim on 61lpi and you give a soft "touch"?
I mean, doing this, you can take the whole thricome throught the first mesh and doing it with one single touch, you avoid any green contaminants.
Then the second step of the same process...

PS: are those seeded buds the arcata cut or bomthreat kush? :smoke:

Hey man, thanks. :)

You are on the right track, but still missing something, hehe.

I do not re-sift. ;)

Edit: Probably not a lot of people backing up in this thread.. so i'll post these again.. this was made from some pretty good indoor trim.. not fantastic.. really good, though. Was a tad wet.. I think only about 5-7 days off the plant.. and the plant was down only the same amount.. so still some wet-ish small nugs, and some soft leaf/trich's.. still managed this.. again.. no sifting at all.

And, this was made from outdoor grown in an atrium.. it was hot, it was a sativa 'ish plant.. no airflow, blah.. kind of a 'meh' operation, but Blue dream is a champ.. there were a number of crispy yellow leaves in there as well, which was a concern, but it didn't turn out to be such a big deal, you just have to be a little careful.

Here is the uncropped version from the veho 200.

Hi DSW

When carrying out your process, does the mesh from two screens come into contact with each other?

Is the material free to pass all the way through the screen?

Assuming the screen is in a horizontal position, do you do anything to the bottom side of the screen?
