2 600's 1 1000 HPS???

I am growing in a 4x8 tent. My plants are in a perpetual SOG moving from left to right across the tent (new plants arrive on the left and finish on the right side) every two weeks.

My question is how would you position the lights in order to achieve the maximum output given the photo period and when the plant needs the most light? Would you place the 1k in the middle the beginning or the end of the flowering cycle?

600 600 1000 (a)
600 1000 600 (b)
1000 600 600 (c)

Thanks!!

I would put it in the middle (b).

I think it might nicely emulate the natural rising, and then waning intensity of the sunlight outdoors over the course of a summer.

@ jugg. I was originally going to do that.. But my friends are just getting much better yields under bigger lights. We have the capability to cool them, so I figured why not? I can always go back to 600's if this proves not to be worthwhile.

Thanks for the quick response!

Where are the plants in your cab when they are packing on the most bud? That's where I would put the 1k.

Good luck with your tent :) let us know if you start a diary or journal for it!

I have the same set up and if it was me, being you go from left to right, Id put the 1k at the right side, so they rotate to finishing there. Been thinking about doing the same thing myself (currently only 2 600's in the 4x8)

@Urbanfog that's what I've been thinking too..

Thanks for the quick response!

Keep it tuned..

At first I thought the same thing... but actually my plants seem to start really fattening up midway through the flowering. i think you will get more benefit from the light in the middle. Also if the 1k is in the middle then you should get more of that light spilling over to the plants under the 600s nextdoor.

Peace

thinking about what you said , that is a better Idea :D

If you are going with 10 plants 5 rows of 2, 3 - 600s would be fine, if you going with 15 plants 5 rows of 3, put a G WATT in the middle with 600s at the ends. But if I had to choose I would go with the G WATT and the 2 600's.

Fix the lights, but adjust your plants by sitting them on bricks or whatever, you should not have to adjust your lights, air cool your lights and set them high. And do you really need a tent? Hang 1x8x4 Foam the kind with one side of it is aluminum and it reflects well, put one each side of the garden, the ends of the garden will be open but you will not lose much light. This will give you a lot of working room for cropping and if you have a fairly high ceiling you can grow trees with super cropping. With 15 plants, depending on the strain, you should be able to hit 3lbs with 600, 1000, 600 set up. I have worked with tents before but it limits the size of the plants you can work with.

And if you are able set up a central AC system just for that room and perhaps you can use the same cool air for your veg too, maybe use that tent for veg in the same room.

By dedicating AC just for that set up you will save money on your light bill. Be careful, if you going with an old R-22, 2 to 3 ton unit will work fine. But if you going with the new standard R-410A increase the size by 1 ton because it does not work as efficient as a R-22. Go with the new standard R-410A with the proper size it will perform very well. Make sure the cooling difference is at least 18 degrees, lets say intake is 74 the output should be at least 56. If you install an expansion valve you can dig another 3 to 5 degrees more cooling.

Thanks for all the quick responses guys!
@944s2 My tent is a bit bigger than 4x8 closer to 5x9. So its a little under 30 watts a
Sqft. I'm gonna seal all the lights and air cool them. Shouldn't be a problem.
I'll post some pics when I get everything hung up!

Peace
