ahhhh... makes sense why you use the pressure pot instead :) seems like building another IIIa might be a better way to go with a 6x12 spool potentially.

quick question greywolf... i froze my recovery tank so that i could bleed off excess pressure as it was taking longer to flood the columns. i then found i couldn't draw the butane into the IIIa. now it turns out we only had about 5 or 6 lbs of butane left in the recovery tank and we did freeze it with dry ice. any thoughts as to what might be up? we've run the system cold before without any issues other than long reclaim times. so either purging almost all the pressure out or being low on butane is the issue...

5lbs is around the bottom end of where the system runs well. I try to keep it closer to 10 lbs and add when it gets close to 5lbs.

If you chilled the tank in dry ice, you probably had little pressure left, so that it was strictly a push pull effort by the pump. Do you know what temperature it went down to?

Instead of a 48" column on mkIII, could we just double stack two 24"columns, and also double stack the bottom 6x6's or use a 6X12 for the collection?

I tried using a 36in column with the 6X12 for collection, and i was able to finish in 21 min.
I am really just trying to cut down on the number of times i have to open it up and collect.

That megaflow hose looks awesome, Thanks FE

I never had any bad experiences with the kobra hoses, but hearing about other peoples mysterious hose oil problems, prompted me to get some all stainless lines specially made from Flexicraft Industries, following NorthernLabs lead in this Thread

Yes you can stack the bottom spools and make it work.

As long as you keep the boiling pool far enough from the pump intake so that it doesn't ingest oil, you can run it at any diameter to height ratio.

The advantage to a lower tank that is large in diameter and short in height, is that that it has a larger surface area and thus boils off faster.

Thanks for sharing your hose source bro.

I just compared them to Portland Valve and Fitting prices here in River City, and they are less expensive?

Not sure what Portland Valve and fitting charges but I paid
43$ for 1/4" X 18" OAL
53$ for 1/4" X 36" OAL
59$ for 1/4" X 48" OAL
+38 shipping for the Flexicraft hoses

I went to a local shop A1 Coupling and picked up 1/4 male NPT to 1/4male JIC adapters for the MKIII
and a 3/8"X48"OAL with 3/8 JIC fittings for 100$

The stainless hoses run smooth but they have to be tightened with a wrench and are not as flexible as the Kobra hoses. I plan on rigging up a permanent deep freezer for the tank soon and the Kobra hoses apparently dont do so well with the cold.

But after seeing that Mega flow hose i might just use that for speed

Im going to give the double stack a try tomorrow and report back.
Probably going to need a large clamp to keep that tall thing from falling over.

Got my machine together.

Going to charge it with air tomorrow and see if I fucked it up during assembly. My 3/8" Cross had a score in one of the threads but I got a good bit of tape and screwed it down past the gouge mark. I unscrewed it to see if it scored the nipple in the lid and it was all good so I'm pretty sure I got a good seal between the yellow tape & the threads of the nipple in the lid and 4 way...I'll know tomorrow.

I'll be pulling in to the terpenation station soon.

cold runs, frozen column, 3 days in the vac chamber. 3 days @ 29 hg for no reason except I didnt feel like scraping it out. The vac fell down half way after 36 hours or so and I would vac it down again. Each time it rose less and less until nothing happened. When I finally cracked the the lid open the smell was tremendously funky. The funkiest yet fer sure, also the 1st batch of indoor 101 north Ive ran. I have to say this one might be my favorite so far. Bone dry and funky.

uhh well....

uhh well....

I wish I could show you the video of it... I would have to say that heat was not needed in this case. The film was thin and viscous. The above photos of the white fluff that is this after going up and down in the vac for 3 days. If there is butane its certainly under the olfactory threshold. I can take some microscope pics to see a greater detail. Dabbing the gold flakes I got no butane odor either. Normally Id go on with winterizing but I dont want to alter the terpene profile I got going on with this one. Its ridiculously tasty. Ill see if I can get this video uploaded to youtube. Maybe Sensi Wolf will step in and scold me on this one, in which case I will winterize in the name of cleanliness and lab data....
