Robbers in the medical community, How to handle them?

Ok so in the city I live there has arisen a group that operates separate of each other but works together to get large amounts of product together. They all have med cards and place delivery orders usually to the state law max carry rules, and when you get to them to deliver they grab your bag and run and have a get away car ready for them less than a 1/4 mile away. They have robbed over 6 dispensaries/delivery services in the last week and each place has been gotten for at least 1-4 oz plus, concentrates, scales, and one place's driver was even hit with a bat as he pursued one of the assailants... How should we as the medical providers in the community handle this situation (other than just blackballing the 3 face showing members of the group).

Seems to me that in order to be so bold, they must surely size up the delivery person first, before actually making the snatch. So... how about only big, scary, biker-looking dudes doing the deliveries?

One of the delivery drivers who was robber was a 6'4" 300+lb personal bodyguard for a gentleman that owns 3 of the compassion clubs in town (he's the dude that was hit with a bat as he pursued) and this was also the most recent event, happening yesterday early evening.

Their M.O. so far is to place an order with a woman calling or texting it in with her paperwork and I.D. for verification, then when you get there they use one of two super tall, lanky dudes to act like a caretaker for the woman and they have paperwork in hand and when they hand it to you and you look to check it out they make the grab and run their ass off through a ton of backyards and undeveloped land, one time one of the guys ran in to a high end gated community and jumped a 9-10' block wall the pursuer lost track of him. The other times 1 of the guys jump in to a get away car after a bit of running and take off. We have compiled the areas that it has happened and it seems they rotate daily between 3 areas of town and who makes the grab I am guessing they all live or hang out in the areas its happening in because they seem to know them very very well.

Oh... Dang.

Seems to me that is probably always going to be an inherent possible risk of delivery. Pizza delivery guys get robbed, shot, killed, or all of the above, frequently. I know in the town I grew up in, a pizza delivery murder was in the news at least twice that I can remember while I was growing up... so if people will kill a man for a 12" pepperoni, I'm not surprised they'll assault and rob for a QP.

I think dispensaries should set themselves up like convenience stores, with bullet proof glass and that drawer that opens up to the outside. At least, if they are operating in area where this type of crime is known. It still sucks to have to do all that shit, though.

maybe a dye marker in the bag or a tennis ball b0mb <---i wont give instructions here you should own a copy of the cookbook
or some other trap.
keep 2 bags a trap and a good.
upon initial contact you are holding the trap. upon exchange you put the trap away and give the goods..
there is some pretty creative shit from annoying to lethal that can be done with a box or bag.
next time they snatch if they loose a hand they wont snatch again ;)
or
how many times will they go through the effort of snatching a bag of dried dog shit?

anyone selling 1-4 zips to someone unknown is just asking for trouble, even if they have been verified...keep the weight small and it does two things...it keeps ya safer and increases the bottom line.

Its not that they are grabbing just what they ordered, they are also grabbing other peoples orders that the delivery driver is carrying with him for his run of the city. Everyone out here runs around with backpacks or gym bags for their runs, and thats what they are snatching. The city is big enough that it would take you 1 to 1 1/2 hours per patient to get to if you hit home base after every med delivery.

Sounds like bad security procedures on the part of the delivery services, these idiots shouldn't have gotten away with this even for this long.

When I did "official" deliveries, people weren't allowed to touch the product or enter my vehicle unless they were known and trusted, if you don't like the procedures, you don't get your delivery, period.

Hate to say it, but if you have backpacks full of herb that a person can easily grab while sitting in your passenger seat or leaning into your car, you're not trying very hard.

I'd use a buddy team to make deliveries instead of a solo dude.

Both ride in the delivery vehicle, however, instead of driving directly to the delivery site, stop the vehicle short of final destination, and ONE team member grabs exactly what was ordered, and either walks / runs or bikes to the final destination spot.

Shit goes south? You only risk losing one delivery and not the whole batch. The dude waiting in the vehicle can also be positioned in a spot that allows him to provide early warning via cell phone to the delivery dude.

Good idea but if it was me. I would use a proximity gadget hooked to a high voltage knock their ass down backpack. Because I would want to beat their asses for the attempt.

A wire weaved into the cloth of the bag hooked up to the biggest damn tazer you can buy or build. The thief will be holding the bag close and tight and when it gets about 20' from the radio transmitter and signal is lost to the device ZAP! IT falls to the ground twitching uncontrollably pissing and shting it's self. Then I would calmly walk over and commence putting the hurt on it and leave it laying there in a pool of it's own excrement and blood.

nothing worse than a thief....well maby a liberal bureaucrat

The best thing to do would be find a way to link them up and trace them back to the original orders, then when they set you up again you'll know it, and the ball is in your court.

As much as I like Dag's suggestion of shooting in the face with a few rounds of .45 apc, I am pretty sure a concealed hand gun and over a few ounces of weed is a 20 year federal sentence. Let me suggest a more reasonable alternative.

Have them meet you in a much more public place, or have them come to your dispensary. A delivery service should never bring more than an ounce, that is just asking for it. If they dont want to meet where it is hard to rob you then they more than likely want to rob you. Believe me, I have been doing this a while, and seen more than enough to know that if it seems fishy then it is. Just Opt out.
