Places to MUST EAT in/near Sausalito & Santa Rosa

Title says it all. I'm flying out Californi-way next week and need to know of some of the well renowned great places to eat and drink.

I will be in San Francisco one day before driving up to Santa Rosa where I will be staying a few days. I believe most of the eating arrangements in SF are taken care of, but we will be stopping in Sausalito for a bit on the route to Santa Rosa.

Is there anyplace anyone recommends that has particularly great food (or a great bar), or that you really like in general? Any and all styles; breakfast, sandwiches, sushi, fine dining, whatever.

Been awhile since I lived down there. When traveling to a new area I always just use something like Yelp. Rarely steers me wrong.

Bouchon in Napa Valley is legendary and about 30 minutes from that area. It's a Thomas Keller Restaurant. He is a 3 star Michelin chef, and has done James Beard dinners, which is the 2 highest honors you can get as a chef. His other restaurant the french Laundry is there but that is very hard to get a reservation.

There is a ton of good food in the bay.

And eating there will also cost you your first born. My close friend's girlfriend's sister, does that count, worked there for awhile. One guy bought an $8,000 bottle of wine and didn't finish it and sent the rest to to the kitchen for them to taste.

I have eaten in a lot of places in that area and it is kind of a blurr now. The most important thing is the company you have. Great atmosphere and wish I could be there more often.
