My Corner: Hidroponic, Leds and tests

Hello, I will make this forum and this post my corner. Love to test and experiment, nothing new tho for this forum, but I hope some of you can give me tips or hints about my grows.

About Me: Born in Chile & live now in Spain, grower since 2001.
My closet indoor is small, 2 chambers. 60*40*180 (cm) but quite enough for my personal stock.

In one chamber I have 1 month flowering right now of Hidroponics (DWC) strains: Sour Cream (DNA), Sourkush (aka headband DNA) & Chronic (Serious), with MH/HPS 250W with a dimmable ballast.











In the other chamber I have Moby Dick (Dinafem), with one of the latest commercial LEDS

Chamber 1: 250W dimmable, MH 4000K for veg(18/6) and Flo (12/12)
Chamber 2: Led 300W (200 real) veg & Flo

Yeah, my wife has r. arthritis and want to try high cbd strains since normal weed works for her (pain numb). And make a side by side as soon i finish the moby dick with leds.

Molasses, bad idea in DWC

Great idea .... I will try it on DWC, results:

Not recommended in dwc unless is the final flush, i did it in dwc recently and in 1 week the water solution got bad (shitty smaell) even using peroxide, foam, ph went down 5, and some leaves got dry. I will not do it again.

OK, my method with Hydro Nutes (DWC) is quite easy. I use:

- Phostrogen (as base nutes)
- Phosfate superTriple (found in any garden store)
- Ca (basically I use pills diluted in destilated water) & Mg (epson salt)
- Sodium bicarbonate (as buffer y PH+)
- Suplemental N with any brand I found in a Homcenter (like homedepot)
- Water: My tap water is good ~0.2 us/cm
- PH: Always between 5.5 & 5.8

Basically I divide in 4 month the stages. (the NPK ratios are estimated, veg more N than PK flo more PK than N, that's all I worry about)
Stage 1: first month, phostrogen and suplemental N (usually I use a bit any root booster), 0.4 to 0.6 us/cm (~NPK=2-1-1)
Flush (24 hours), water only
Stage 2: 2nd month phostrogen and suplemental N, 0.6 to 0.8 us/cm (~NPK=2-1-1)
Flush (24 hours), water only
Stage 3: flowering, phostrogen + Phosfate superTriple, I dilute the Phosfate superTriple in destillated water, and I add measuring EC. 0.8 to 1.2 us/cm (~NPK=1-2-2)
Flush (24 hours), water only
Stage 4: flowering, phostrogen + Phosfate superTriple, and I add measuring EC. 0.8 to 1.2 us/cm, EC 1.2 to 1.5 (depending on the strain I can go up or down). (~NPK=1-2-2) add some Flower boosting (any comercial one)
Flush (1 week), water only, FINSH. (Experimenting with molasses in this stage)

Ca & Mg once a month, I use CA & Bicarbonate to get the PH right (up), since phostrogen / phosfate send the PH down on my water.

I use 20lt buckets.
That's all I use, no grow commercial aditives. Sometimes I add flowering boosting (algae extracts or similar). That's all, Simple & it works good. I try once commercial nutes & found not much differences.

I just found a pic of my closet (2010), so you can have an idea.
Right Side: Hydro
Left Side: Leds & Moby
Center up(2): Electrical stuff
Center down (2): seeds, clones & mothers with leds

Vertical separation removed & replaced with net for scrow

In the top of the closet I have extractors and I close all with another small chamber (outside), I add activated carbon and O3. Works perfect.

F...king molasses!!!!!
Well this was my first and last try with molasses in the middle of flowering, on dwc TOTAL DISASTER
Today when i check the water again was smelling odd, took the cover off and damn, almost all the root system was rotten (12 days with molasses) grrrrrr. So basically i had to harvest ultra fast and too soon and too little, but is not too bad....just fast dry a small nug, a few puffs and it was ok, decent high, but far from what I was expecting....first time this happed to me....
Well now I know...test 1
DO NOT USE MOLASSES WITH DWC

Good thing I have clones

Now I am germinating CBD CRITICAL MASS (2) fem seeds.

Copper, just 2 inches of cooper wire should help to avoid microbes + Peroxide
Check the cbd seeds and both pop, good.
I have 4 autos in the garden, 2 pinnaple express, 1 automax, 1 autoblue. I will add pics later.

Copper will not do the trick against slime, at least in the quantity I try, so forget it as anti slime (cyano)

Ok, so far so good.
CBD Critical Mass has pop ok, and probably at the end of this week I will put it on DWC
I have made some small changes in my start DWC solution.
Inicial EC: 200 us/cm
Adjust to 400 us/cm with: Phostrogen (20%), Mg (20%), Ca (20%), and 100% pure sea salt (40%) (for trace minerals)
Also add 2 inches of cooper wire into the 5 gal. bucket (To prevent "bucket microlife"), along with once a week peroxide 20vol (1 cap)
PH: 5.7

On the other hand, just pop 4 auto seeds, pictures to come. (Just for fun, this will be outdoors)
