What's new

Multi strain coirganics and handwatered

Got a new project starting, and I like where its going thus far. Lots of fresh crosses, and a few classics.

Have a couple different mediums, one is an organic soil that I mixed. It is coir based. I did 5 gallons GH coir,
5 gallons harvest super powered organic garden soil, 2 gallons verm, 5 gallons perlite. Amendments in that
are 3 cups kelp, 3 cups alfalfa, 3 cups bone meal, 3 cups espoma garden tone, 3 cups espoma bio tone,
3 cups greensand, 3 cups rock phosphate, 1 cup sweetened coconut, 1 cup espoma tomato tone,
1 cup diatomaceous earth, 1 cup composted peat. This gets only tap water since there is plenty of nutrition in the soil.

Coir medium is 1 part roots organics coir, 1 part verm, 1 part perlite, 1 part organic soil that is above.
This medium gets fed with h34d's 6:9 fomula with 3 mL each of humboldt's roots and botanicare's silica blast.

Strains are-

Blue Moonshine (boneshine cut, from a LARGE selection)
BTK kush (can yield 3+ lb a kw, and super potent/tasty, raspberry fuelly funk)
Vanilluna (variegated phenotype)
Banana kush (orgn kids cutting)
2 seeds from random bagseed headstash

Crosses are
2 of- Agent orange x (p98 bubba x double purple doja)
2 of- Kali mist x (p98 bubba x double purple doja)
3 of- Sour bubble x (p98 bubba x double purple doja)
1 of- Boneshine x (p98 bubba x double purple doja)

Veg space- 250w MH conversion bulb @ 53w/sq ft

she's a nice one. always wanted a blueberry in the stable.

But nothing good in seed form and dj has old stock.

how long does your soil less mixture take you before you feed heads formula?

hope everything is good on your side Jones

usually about 3 weeks before i have to feed. plenty of time for them to put roots through the entire container. once the roots
are throughout the medium you can feed and get some really big plants for the container size.

Hey there Indy - I love watching side-by-side comparisons of growing mediums!

Are these mediums new ones for you or recipes you're trying to refine?
So you are going to be feeding both with just water or are you going to hand feed different notes?

Either way I'm hanging around like a bad fart.

Grow on bro!

These mediums are definitely not new for me. The soil is a recipe that I have been working on perfecting for the last 3-4 years.
The soil plant will get only water the entire time through flower, while the coco mix plants will be getting head's formula every
other watering, or as necessary.

I just ordered lights for a new space today. It is 28" x 120" or 2.333' x 10'. 3 x 400w cmh and 2 x 268w evergrow nova s8. Works out
to 77w/sq ft but with that much led power it should be pretty high in PAR across the canopy. I wanted to get a decent sunlike
spectrum supplemented with flowering LEDs. I will be supplementing with CO2 at 1300ppm, already have a sentinel chhc4 controller.
After talking to DZLHIT, I will probably grab a PAR meter as well. Pics on the weekend. :)

Sorry bro - you did tell me the answer - I just wasn't reading your original post with my game-head on previously...

Good growing to you sir!

Pulled the sour bubble x (bk x dpd), it was a male.

The rest are coming along pretty well, the ones that went in on 7-7 (unknown & bms) are starting to flower nicely now.

The rest of them are still in the stretch and should hopefully be finished gettin their legs before too long. Banana is almost
twice the height of all the others, it definitely stretches the most of all the ones I run.

they went in on 7-10 i think, i would have to look at my notes to be 100% sure.

the soil mixture for the bms was a little high in P imo. those leaf curls have usually been a symptom of P overdose, but we will see how it plays out later in flowering.

those unknown bagseed smell awesome. like a honeydew melon, cheese, and musk, i can't wait to see how they finish.

7-11 actually on the smaller plants. wait 'til lights come on tomorrow and i get a picture of the banana, it is so lanky it is kinda humorous.

the p issue with the bms seems to be cooling down some, and it is really starting to stack it on. i potted up the bms and the sour bubble x (bk x dpd) into larger containers of the mix, btk into 10 gallons, sb x (bk x dpd) into 18 gallons. got a few new strains, got my vanilluna (the phenotype thatgypsy uses to sell dj's seeds on his site came from my pics of this plant), agent orange, and 3 cuttings from a bagseed from a orange-y strain. also got blockhead, the original EC SD, my bubba kush x double purple doja, and the fast finishing green crack (my buddy says it takes 49 days and has a really nice sativa high in that harvest window). the musky/melon/cheese of the unknown strain smells almost exactly like trainwreck now. didn't see that one coming in the least... but whatever, i love me some trainwreck.

on to the pictures :D

This grow has taught me something important. Use a lot of silicates. I had usually went with 1 quart in 25 gallons of soil to compost, but that wasn't nearly enough. I used about 5% by volume DE in the veg plants, and they shot up the week I was gone on vacation. Some grew more than an inch a day.

Unknown- 99% sure its trainwreck, stretchy in flower and has that trainwreck smell. Once you've had real trainwreck, it is something you never forget. Looks like it is going to take a long time to flower when compared to the indica dominant plants I have.

imagejpeg_3(2).jpg

This is the only plant that is giving me a problem so far. Dunno if it just isn't adjusting to the LED well or what, but it's a little pissy. All three cuttings of this variety are doing the same thing.

imagejpeg_4(2).jpg

BTK kush- This thing is going to be a monster once she gets through her stretch in flower. I'm gonna throw a trellis over it before I flip.

imagejpeg_3.jpg

Sour bubble x (bubba kush x double purple doja)- Another monster. The structure on this one is great. Short internodes but branchy. Best of indica and sativa phenos :D

imagejpeg_4.jpg

Boneshine that is in flower, looking really nice. Hoping for at least an oz and a half from her.

imagejpeg_2(1).jpg

imagejpeg_3(1).jpg

Finished the second flowering space except hanging the last LED, I only want to add a light at a time to make sure i don't shock them. That makes 3x 400 CMH, and 1x 268w evergrow nova s8 LED. Next LED goes in the space in two days.

Also put up a vertical scrog screen, which increased my garden's surface area tremendously. Added just over 24 sq ft of canopy space, the original canopy space was 23.3 sq ft, definitely a plus. Put two bananas and an agent orange on the screen, they stretch the most. I think I'm going to use a pretty good bit of fish tank water for those so they get some more stretch from the extra N.

I figured out what was making the problem for the plants that were looking bad. The water has went up in pH pretty significantly since I've been here, it was 7.4-7.5 the other day when I measured. Since I don't have pH down, I have been using water out of the fish tank to adjust the pH to 6.5.

Pictures :)

Time for a proper picture update on all the strains.

These two are the agent orange x (pre 98 bubba kush x double purple doja). Two very distinct phenotypes, one with club shaped buds, one with spears.

ORGNKID Banana kush, the last picture is a side by side with boneshine. Both the banana and boneshine were flowered from ~6" cutting. Banana really stretches if it doesn't have a lot of veg time.
