WATER > NUTES > ADDITIVES

WATER > NUTES > ADDITIVES

Planned Water/Nutes/ Additives:

Tap water - PH out the faucet is 7.5 (raises to 8.0 after sitting for a few mins, i suppose this is my actual ph). I have a shitty PPM meter and it reads 063ppm. dont know how accurate or what to do with that information, thought id put it up if anyone wants to wager in.

(K.I.S.S.) MAXIBLOOM @ 1tsp per 1gal water (this may increase or decrease once i wrap my head around PPM/EC and get a legit meter)

ROOTS XL

Botanicare FULVEX (fulvic acid) for a weekly foliar shower

Silica blast for PH down purposes
--------------------------------------------------

I "PRE CHARGED" the coco before transplanting with h2o > 1/2 strength base nutes > recommended dose of CalMagPlus > all ph'd to 6.0

Question:

I went out and bought a quart of CalMag plus as was suggested to me for "pre charging" my coco before transplanting. i did a But come to think of it I may have enough cal + mag from the faucet... can anyone elaborate on that for me?

Ill be shooting for ph 5.8 for waterings as i believe this is the suggested target PH for coco.

5.8 is ideal, however you will want to mix your nutes then ph down to get to 5.6ish. Then let your reservoir naturally rise as you feed every day to hit different ph"s between 5.5 - 6.3. As you probably know, different elements are more or less available at different ph levels. Letting your ph rise naturally allows you to hit these levels while only adding your ph down once. Anyhow, grow looks great bro

If you want a PH down get this.

picture.php

Less than $15 at Tractor Supply. It is phosphoric acid and is food grade. Use a little at a time till you know how much you need. This is a very strong acid and it is dirt cheap.

- Thanks for the info DABS!!! During my last run I realized the importance of ph and am starting to understand how it correlates to nute availability and what not. Your input is much appreciated my dude.

silica blast is for ph up not down
- HEH! my mistake, i do use Silica Blast for ph up. Ive been using the chemical ph down (orange bottle?). My bud KitKat suggested the silica b for ph up.

- Thanks for the suggestion Ichabod! I came accross this suggestion of yours in another thread i think KitKats. Once im done with the lil bottle of down ill get my hands on this and never need to reup ever!

Im sure this is probably a numbingly dumb question for most of you guys, but I have to ask as I have zero experience in reservoirs and if i dont ask, how am i gonna learn(other than trial and error)!

so initially one would fill up the reservoir with the pre mixed nutes (in my case the base amount for maxibloom) then ph that down to 5.6 .

What im having trouble grasping is "feed every day". Does this mean you are adding small amounts of your ph'd base nutes each day to hit the higher ph?

sorry if thats a mouthfull or if youd like me to rephrase.

Drek - Most of the yellowing was caused by them getting burnt. 2 days in a row the circuit popped and fans / ac turned off and the plants got FRIED to a crisp. Since that time I wasnt able to really handle much or fix any other issues.

you will be feeding everyday from your reservoir and(auto) topping with ph'd water to keep your ec and ph levels in check, this woulb gradually be diluting your mix and INCREASING your ph,then when its time to bring it down again,u add some more nutes.(not lower than 5.5 and not higher than 6

hope i understood your questions correctly?you also want to remember to try and keep the ph and ec as stable as possible by keeping your coco moist,if your environment is dialed and they eating fast ,feed light and often.the higher your ec the more run-off you need ,the lower the ec the less run-off you'll need.If you plan on one big watering daily then ph a bit higher because as the coco dries your ph will drop, not like ebb and flow where you can have it low at like 5.2 all the time!!

Thanks for the clarification Purple Turtle! Im starting to wrap my head around this stuff!

I have a new question.

Im using Maxibloom as a 1 part KISS regiment. A couple of times ive watered i had a little bit left over in the bucket and after sitting overnight or a day or 2 the water and Maxibloom / Roots XL mix gets stinky. Now, my question is will this same issue happen when i use a reservoir with blumats or is there some other element causing the funky smell?

Grab a circulation pump for your res. I like to use "power heads" from the pet shop as they also have the ability to add oxygen. Pond pumps (magdrive) can also be used. Size for either just depends on res size. What is happening is your res is getting stagnant from lack of water movement/oxygenation. Hell you could just stir it once or twice a day and you'd probably be alright.
