The Bloom Boom room! (Back to basics)

I started out with vertical growing and had awesome results.I then went against the golden saying which is "if it's not broke don't fix it". I started doing horizontal grows and realized how much time and money I wasted. So here I am back to vertical growing. The strain is OGR WIFI and I think a Blue OG is in the DWC. The system is a 4 site DIY Under Current system. Lighting is 1000watt hps. Any questions or critiques please feel free to chime in.

WITH A 600 WT HPS do you think i can pull off a vert grow?
if so how many plants do you think i can place around the bulb?

at least to veg and maybe in a couple weeks i can buy another bulb to add horizontal across the top or parallel to the vertical bulb

or should i stick to horizontal untill i buy better bulb
reason i ask is because i see many are perfering vert bare bulb grows but they use a 1000 watter like yourself

My first grow was with a 600 watt and 4 plants. This is actually my first time using a 1000 watt light. You will not be disappointed with the vertical grow. I'm sure some of the experts will chime in.

Yes it was. It was pretty cool. I'm setting up another doughnut right beside it in a month to get a perpetual grow going. That will be with a 600w also.

The bulb is the Cap MaxLume HPS. The temps are at 82f with a ton of air flow. They are seeming to do well with the temps being as such. It has been beyond hot in these parts so that is good to be so cool. I have a large portable AC but it uses too much electricity and I'm sure the 4 degrees shift will not dictate the cost in electricity. The system is cooled with a chiller and stays at 68f.

That's what I am hoping for. I have a 8 bulb t5 with only 2 bulbs working (crappy ballast) in my veg tent. Will it be better to put my 600w hps dimmed down to 300w in there rather than have 108w of light for 5 plants in there? I am looking into getting a 600w MH bulb until I can grab a new t5 fixture once funds permit me to do so. I need the awesome growth the 8 bulb t5 was giving me when it worked.

I have the screen up. In a few days I may trim up the huge plant. I have learned it is best to put the screen in before the stretch and not during it. I'm at 750ppm right now. I feel I have taken for granted how much the WiFi can fill in. The next area will be done with a 600 watter. Here is a pic of the new round in the veg tent.

It is one of those Ebay\Amazon cool tubes. It is actually the XL version that comes with the hood on it. I will hit the big plant on the left. How much should I take off in a vert grow?

Hey man you were asking about veg lighting... for the first 2 weeks after planting clones I'd always run something mild like a T5 but after that I'd say running a full 600 is your best bet. If you get too worried you can always hang it a little higher the first couple days to avoid torching anything, but the extra watts def show in the finished product. If you need to keep your power consumption down take a look at the LED lights, I run a few of the 90w UFO style fixtures along with a 600 in my veg tent and I love them.... Your grow is looking great so far though, happy harvest!

Thanks! I just put a 400w mh in the veg tent. I think my digital thermometer does not like it. LOL it is reading 88f but it feels cooler than my flower room with a ton of air movement. Not to mention I have a 8" inline fan exhausting the tent.

Yikes 88 degrees! They say 82 is the max but you look at guys all over the world in tropical areas growing some danks and I wonder how much truth there is to the high temps thing. As long as you have plenty of fresh air and keep the humidity in check I think you'll be stylin. Another benefit of the LEDs is that they don't create much heat.

Glad to hear you came back over to the vert side, Dre... way to grow boi!

We have a similar story - I started out growing with parabolics (fabricated by my father), reinvested my first harvest's profits into "upgraded" equipment and was never able to replicate my results until I converted to true vert stylee. My dad still loves to give me shit about all the money I have blown on unnecessary equipment and snake oils, especially air-cooled reflectors hahaha! I suppose I should have been taking his advice all along but you know how us humans are, we are sometimes determined to learn the right way to do something via the wrong one. :)

Pullin' up a bucket in the front row, excited for the show!
