Ahh ok...yea the bag I got is labelled "expanded" perlite...pretty chunky and not too dusty...I did take caution and mixed outdoors though to avoid breathing any of it in.

Another question...I haven't found earth worm castings or other humates locally, but I just happened upon an "Instant Humus" in granular form that dissolves into water.

Anyone have any experience with something like this...I supppose I would wait to add it now as I've already placed my germed seeds into the soil, so maybe with my first real waterings 2 or 3 weeks in?
