its a good thing, the positive exposure, I believe he's a neurosurgeon and a professor of neurosurgery, so the TV Doc moniker is misleading, imo; and the interview pundits trying to pull up all the old adages per evil mj and he spoke explicity, imo, on Medical for medical purposes, moreso than like a bottle of booze. Rock on Medical Movement, Im still waitin to see how the "legal" states turn out, in street reality. He made the best points on medical while admitting to his own previous closemindedness that got everyone's attention. He even thru in the no overdose ever on mj, while many on booze, he made that point hit home hard also, imo. Overall, good exposure.
When Dr Gupta wrote WHY I WOULD VOTE NO ON POT in Time magazine in 2009, http://spoonfeedin.blogspot.nl/2009/01/columnists-sanjay-guptawhy-i-would-vote.html
I was very disappointed that his words would influence many others to believe the many lies circulating about Cannabis. I honestly thought maybe his other medical opinions were just as shallow as his understanding of medical Cannabis. I was amazed at his turn around, it is seldom you see anyone so public with a open mind willing to see the truth when it is not what they believed to be the truth for so long. Dr. Sanjay Gupta now says we have been "systematically misled" on marijuana, I absolutely agree with him, and he apologizes for his part in the misleading. His special WEED will be on Sunday night Aug 11 CNN.
He will be jumped on by many people opposed to Cannabis, not because of the science and patients that helped changed his mind, but because their minds are already made up and Cannabis is just not medicine, end of story. I am happy to accept his apology and his conversion to the belief that Cannabis is a medicine to many patients, and that they deserve to be allowed to use their medicine without fear from the law. He also strongly supports research with Cannabis and explains why the present system is rigged against Cannabis by the US government.

I suspect this is a moment like about president Johnson, when Bill Moyers said "the president flipped off the set and said 'If I've lost Cronkite, I've lost Middle America." about Cronkites 1968 broadcast that the Vietnam War was unwinable.
Gupta is mainstream, if he is for medical Cannabis, the government has lost the middle class, and the war on Cannabis. They just have not admitted it yet.

Tomorrow on Peers Morgan will have another special with the Pot Moms of Beverly Hills that claim marijuana makes them better mothers. Then another follow up with another entire special sunday with Dr Sanjay Gupta via CNN on the hypocrisy
"Weed: How America's Been Misled for the Last Seventy Years"
* Marijuana is a legitimate medical treatment with zero fatalities, while people are dying every 19mins from overdoses of opiate derivative pain prescribed medications like Oxy. Cocaine is a Fed schedule II drug, Marijuana is still classed as Schedule I . etc
* Pot Mums of Beverly Hills tell Piers Morgan: 'Pot makes us better parents'

Well this news just came out: 'Mandatory minimum' sentences to end for many drug offenders "Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. plans to announce a federal policy shift to reduce penalties for low-level, nonviolent offenders and to ease prison overcrowding." Hey it's been a pretty good week already!i do see an interesting post on another site, Holder is going to make some big statement on MMJ in the next day or so?
some mention rescheduling could be on the table, but that's just hearsay at the moment
but CNN is married to the us government/corporate inside, so this little special of theirs does suddenly smell a bit
not saying it's a bad smell(hopefully)
