What's new

First time Hydro.

I just started this project about 3 weeks ago. I figured i would post a thread, and we can all learn! I am running a 1kw hortilux hps bulb over a 3x3 table with a multitude of different strains. I have it set to flood 8 times a day for 15 mins. It is all in 6"rockwool cubes. It has been on 12 hours on and off for 7 days now.

Ill post pictures in a min here

Great thread! Because all your plants will feed differently than others, as well as get flooded at different times per day, it is best to keep similar feeding varieties on the same tray. It is much harder to maximize all of your plants the way that you are growing. Good luck with your grow though!

Things i am looking to learn from this grow is.
A. which strain works best for me, in my set up.
B. how the flora series works & Hydro recirculating flood and drain
C. how i can duplicate this and make it bigger. (I'm thinking about 5gallon pails)

I haven't run my flood and drain tables yet waitin on clones to root, isn't 8 times to much for plants in rockwool? rockwool holds water pretty well, my buddy uses one with rockwool and floods once a day, I am planning on using hydrocorn and flooding 8 times.

To answer you're question i am brand new to this. I had now guidance in how to do it. So i started by making a continuous drip system. I put unrooted clones into a 1.5" rockwool cube. and shoved that into a 6" rockwool cube and let it drip 24 hrs a day. but i was getting algae on the top. So i turned it into a flood and drain. but i have done almost no research on it. They seem to be very happy. I will have more updates soon!! ill keep posting pics so everyone can see. also... im trying to see which strain goes best for me.

I talked to my friend he floods once a day with rockwool, he has been a 20+ year vet. H2O2 will take care of the algae. if you are using the flora series try micro 6ml to bloom 9 ml
per gallon until week 4 then koolbloom 1tsp per gallon until flush. works great I use in soil and my buddy uses on his table. a lot of people use that same formula on here. its all trial and error seeing what works for you.

Thank you for the advice! I think i will tone it back. I'm nervous about em drying up. Time will tell tho for sure. I'm Very excited about the explosive growth i have seen. some are growing over 1" a day :) I am unsure if that is alot. but to me it is!

maybe ask a mod to move this thread over to the hydro formum, you will get a lot more response from a lot more experienced hydro growers. I would figure you would want the rockwool to dry out a little, just like hand watering soil, you only water every 2 or 3 days to allow to dry out, the roots could rot without enough air and to much water.

I am just beginning so i figured this is the right place. I could just make a new thread over there. I'm just not very experienced is all. I have read and studied the internet for years. but this is the first time of real application. so we shall see where it goes :)
